I am having problems with "3" on my 6630. I am a newbie and no nothing about symbian or my 6630 (had it a few days) 😮
I have loaded the "3" settings by using the Setting Wizard.
Firstly whats the difference between using 3 internet as the access point and 3 WAP?
With both i get the same message "we are unable to process your request at this time - please retry id: 172.30.181.202:30320-27292" Is this something wrong with "3" or my settings?
Also I read in another thread that "3" have restricted access, someone mentioned a "walled garden".... I bought this phone mainly to take travelling so I could access GPRS abroad and check my emails.
I'm also stuck on this, do I need a separate browser so i can get to my webmail and access normal html internet sites?
Sorry for all the questions, I'll learn eventually.... 🙄
Cheers
Hi,
I don't think there is any difference between the two access points mentioned.
Try changing the default homepage on the access point you're using to:
http://mobile.three.co.uk/hb/7600/HutchKey
(note: the HutchKey part is case sensitive)
To do this, go to Menu->Tools->Settings->Connection->Access Points
Edit the access point you're using and go to the "Homepage" section and try the web address above.
Or, if you want to test the web address first, go the Web application and type the address in.
Three do have this "walled garden" which means you can only access their own content on their servers. You can't access the open internet...which sux!
Hope the above helps

as i know the setting wizzard is not working properly.... it looks like, that the parameters are OK,but still not working... after manualy configured,or ordered an configuration SMS from operator its working... 😃
You using 3 UK? Because on 3 UK you cannot access WWW or Email. All you can get is the three portal. They operate a walled garden that does not allow you to access content away from their portal.
1 Install Doris Browser
2 Set Homepage http://mobile.tre.it/homebase
3 Start Doris Browser et voila'...!
I hope you enjoy this trip..

With a WAP Access Point all traffic goes through the operator's WAP gateway. The WAP gateway can have limited access to services outside the operator's own network (it can allow no access, the so called "walled garden" or limited access to sites the operator wants you to get to. When a WAP gateway allows unlimited access, it might still "interfere" by attempting to convert web pages to WAP, transcode (conver) files (such as images), and also do things such as pass the phone user's phone number (MSISDN) to the WAP or web site, etc.
With an Internet Access Point the traffic doesn't go through the operator's WAP gateway (it will still go through any operator proxy and/or cache servers). And Internet access point usually gives unrestricted access to any machine on the Internet. Usually you need to use an Internet access point for full web access, access to email servers other than the operator's own, etc.
With Internet access points the phone usually is given a private IP address and NAT (Network Address Translation) makes the service provider's see the operator's proxy server's address, and not the actual address given to the device.
Some operators will allocate a public IP to the phone, too (but in all cases I've come across, it has been done through a different Internet access point than the default one). The phone user can then also be charged more for the traffic.
