9500 charging problem...
Hi,
I have had at first a 9500 and rght now I ise a 9300.
With both units I saw the same as yours:
I can only charge the Communicator with PHONE ON (charging time aprrox. 1.30-2 hrs) - when the Phone Module is switched off the charging bars are runningen even after 20 hrs charging...
Bye
Klaus
Thanks for the info Klaus!!! I really appreciate it! 😉
BTW... is that problem normal? or should I get it fixed immediately?
And HOW do I fix it?
Hi,
I would not expect that the Company could fix it in the near future.
But what shalls, I right now know this prob to handle - in the past I prefer to charge my phone overnite with Phone Mode OFF, now I charge it also overnite and switch the phone to MUTE.
Bye
Klaus

My 9300 exhibits the same behavior. After 12-15 hours of charging with the phone off the battery indicator is still scrolling. If I then unplug it the indicator shows it's about 60% full, then in 20 minutes it jumps to 100%. With the phone on the charging is as expected. I guess these phones don't like to be turned off.
It is a known problem on some units. Please search the forum. If you reboot the device (battery out or using Rebooter) before you plug in the charger, it will charge the battery normally.
Btw., I've never had this problem with my 9300.
i've been having the same problem.
if i turn it off, then let it charge for 2 hours, then unplug it, would that mean my battery is fully charged already even if the battery bar is still scrolling?
raven, do you mean that we need to use rebooter or battery out every time we charge the phone?

I don't know if you really need to. I haven't had this problem myself, but I would assume that even if the battery indicator doesn't work correctly, the battery still gets charged. But to be on the safe side, and have the indicator working properly, you may want to reboot before a charge yes.
Hi Raven,
in my opinion you are right. I always reboot the System with REBOOTER before charging the unit ot I charge it when the phone module is witched on - these 2 ways are the only ways to get the correct charging bars on the display.
I know that this problem have not all user - but I am confused how that can be.
I have had a 9500 and right now the 9300 - on both units I have had the same charging effect. On both units I tried this out with the original manufacturer configuration without adding any software - so the reason cant be any additional software.
Bye
Klaus
Yes mates. i also have the same problem. i dont have the phone. my friend have it .actually i dont give a FCUk. about their S.H.I.T phones. as they are making all the phones and using the same software and same design. and they are just cheating peoples. its 10,000 times better to purchase a POcket pc phone than this FCuking Communicator. with useless screen dimension. but still people like nokia.
OH. I Willl FCUK their all models. with same screen. and no model no order. Crap releases and same softwares. Just they are cheeters. they just change the colour of the body and then release the new model by placing simply an (i) and crazy ignorant people purchase them.
Huh.
Very sad Nikia, you will die soon. i wish :icon14:

Yes, if you want 10,000 times more crashes, hangups, reboots, loss of data, a battery that won't last you the day, a puny screen resolution, poor telephony support and no real keyboard.
Please just STFU my technologically challenged friend.
I just jumped from a pocketpc and bought the nokia 9500....
Having said that, each one has its strengths.

2 issues - Pocket PC vs Communicator and charging
Charging - I have the same problem too but what is worse is that I only get about 12-16 hours worth of useage (approx 10 20 min phone calls, 1 hour of golf game, browsing and e-mail) is it just my phone? On the charging issue. I take my battery out and charge it on a home made charger (modified Nokia charger) and it seems to get a fuller charge.
Pocket Pc vs communicator- I have owned almost every PDA phone on earth (over 20) and Pocket PC is the worse OS for a Pda Phone because its super slow (even with a 400mhz+ processor on the XDA mini) has a screen dimention that is very bad for reading and browsing and just hangs whenever it wants to. The only good thing aobut it is that it is super compatable with XP but XP itself is a shit OS anyways. P910 and the 9300 kicks ass and the 9300 comes out on top! Totally agree with Raven!!
