Messus - again I agree... you are the voice of reason!
The fact is Sendo hyped up this phone. I spent a long time looking for the best phone to meet all my needs (ie business and leisure), so of course I had high expectations when I heard about the x. I'll admit I was a long time Nokia supporter. I bought this phone because of its supposed compatability and upgradability and the feature list wowed me, but sadly it has let me down. My girlfriend has an LG phone and my sister has a Sharp phone and these both deliver what it claims on the tin! I would like to say my X does a lot more, but I'm let down by its reliability and stability.
I suspect a lot of people buy phones because they look good, but this phone was marketed as something else. Unlike the latest Nokia or Siemens adverts the phone was a bit mysterious (nobody had heard of Sendo before) and we all had to wait a long time for it to arrive, hence the increased hype and speculation. I would guess many people on this forum took the time to find out about this phone and would be using it more than just as a functional telephone. For those of you that just want a telephone - make sure you're near a landline all the time!
I really believe some members of this forum work for Sendo and have been given the job of deflecting all the negative press. If they're really using all the features on this phone then I dont believe they can be 100% satisfied and continue to defend it poor quality.
There are TWO members of this forum who work for Sendo, and neither of them particularly hides the fact.
No one else that I know of works for, is bribed by, or brain washed by Sendo! - Some of us just like the phone, and Yes, we DO use all its' features!

That`s why they implanted the "Unable-to-recieve-calls-while-playing-MP3s-bug"? 😕
so whats the speed of the processor??
and is there any chance that the X2 could run Tomtom ??

It's one of the reasons they've been working SO hard to quash that bug for good!
shredo wrote:so whats the speed of the processor??

Not sure about the processor speed, but I suspect it'll be the same as the X.
The X2 will run Series 60 version 1.2 on Symbian 6, so won't support TomTom Mobile.
If the processor used in the X2 is the same as the X, then sendo is making a big mistake.
Although I like my X very much my main gripe about the phone (more so than any bugs that sendo are working hard to get rid of) is the time the X takes to bootup and accept the pin code.
It really shouldn't take that long even though symbian based phones have to load the entire system including any drivers needed.
The processor should power through all this going at full speed, looking at the specs the X has a fast processor if it can't cope all that well when starting the phone then the X2 should have a more powerful processor that can't power down to save battery life when the phone it up and running.
Gripe over now.

So Sendo's way of fixing things is making people spend additional money on them?
- While a lot of Sendo X customers are left in anger and dispair.. -
I don't think that is the right way. Sendo should concentrate on fixing the X,
rather than building a new unit, so that it (X) performs the way it should, and the
way Sendo has been marketing it to function!!
A lot of people have said it before on this forum, Sendo have been using us
as beta-testers for a product that never did live up to it's expectations, and
most certainly now never will as they will concentrate on the new baby, the X2.
If it has basically ALL the same features as the current X except a slightly updated camera, then that is a dissapointment. The processor speed and how it handles movies really is the one thing that lets me down the most on my Sendo X. If they havnt updated this in the new phone, then its pointless releasing it at all. I spent over 200 on this phone, and i sure as hell wont pay another 200 on a 1.3mp camera.
The only good thing about the x2 i guess the price wich is under the 150 Pound as stated earlier
I think you'll all be pleasantly suprised when you see the phone - it's got a lot to offer!
stuclark wrote:I think you'll all be pleasantly suprised when you see the phone - it's got a lot to offer!
Your statement imply's that you've been selected as one of the beta testers of the new phone and are in possesion of an X2, or have recently played with one.
If you are one of the testers are you allowed to tell us how the phone is compared to the X.
(If on the other hand your not a tester, then how do you know that we'll be pleasantly surprised with the X2.)
Well am I right or not stuclark.
As it happens, you're WRONG!
I am not going to be involved in the beta testing of the X2 which either started this week, or will do next week.
What I know comes from talking to people at Sendo. It's amazing what you can find out if you ask sensible questions and don't rant and rave about how "crap" the phone is every 5 minutes!
If you read all my posts about the X2, you'll notice that I have been quite sceptical about it at times...but I'm told I'll be impressed, so in turn will the rest of you!
Ok I stand corrected stu, too much of a coincidence though.
I do read all your posts, but I also knew that the testing began about the 21st. And that you were interesting in taking part.
Also the specs are quite good looking for the X2, includes aac audio which I did want to be included and allowing phone to be charged using usb cable both of which I suggested in the questionaire that was on their site when they released the themes, my point being at least they are listening to users comments.

Yep, I was interested in taking part in the testing, but what with living in London and a number of other things, it wasn't possible.
From what I've been told, the testing was put back at least a week, so I expect it to start next Monday (28th) - hopefully once this has begun, we will be able to see a few more specs / pictures of the phone 😊
cool.. if you know anything let us know.. :icon14:
they'd better bring out a firmware for the first X that makes the phone work properly.. :icon13:
have given my phone to husband, just pre ordered nokia 6680
SPEEDMAN wrote:they'd better bring out a firmware for the first X that makes the phone work properly.. :icon13:
As has been said many times before, they are bringing out more firmwares for the original X, so don't worry!
stuclark wrote:Suddenly I don't want my X any more...Jarold, can you tell us which version of S60 it uses? Is it version 2, or still 1.2?
Dont be silly - how could you improve on the wonderful X? Why would you ever want an X2. The X has everything you ever wanted in a phone... stability, reliability, looks. What a great device.
How very droll.
Sarcasm does not become you 😉

for as the new firmware was supposed to be for a 'christmass release', and it is now 1st of march. I still miss calls, and lose network without any given warning...
and the freakin mp3 problems is getting on my nerves too much.
As soon as the 6680 comes out, i will sell my X and get that phone. :frown:

Whoever said it would be out before Christmas??? I don't remember this, and considering the 2 - 3 months between the last two, and as 60D was released in November, then it would be reasonable to expect the next firmware to be out in January / February.
However, some time ago, Plinkykev told us that there'll be a delay on this next firmware as it contains a large number of fixes and enhancements, and so will need extra testing time. No date was ever set for when it will be out, but I would *expect* it to be nearing the end of it's dev. cycle, so hopefully it will be in the next month or so.
IF the X2 is due for release in April (which I personally doubt very much) then the chances are that there'll be at least one firmware update for the X before this date. (you can guess this quite definitely because as they run the same version of Series60, fixes for one of them can easily be applied to the other, and Sendo obviously want to avoid the mistakes they made when launching the X, so the X2's firmware is bound to be more heavily tested)
so basically,
you've just admitted the following mistakes to have been made:
-they knew there were problems before release
-there WERE problems with the release
-they don't want to make the same mistakes again.
then why do you deny these facts in the 'lawsuit-topic' ?
Because the lawsuit thread makes the mistake of saying "the phone doesn't work" and "the phone's not [good enough] to be sold" - both these statements can be dis-proved very easily!
I've never said there aren't *any* problems - you may remember that I was the fist one to do proper testing on, and post the results of, the MP3 problem. (a problem I don't believe you admitted existed originally)
The bottom line is that EVERY phone has bugs. Every manufacturer has software issues, and some go so far as releasing a new model just to *hide* those issues. Sendo haven't done that - they've admitted what they need to fix, and are pro-actively doing so! (otherwise, why would we be discussing when the next firmware is going to be released?)
In any case - my post didn't *admit* anything - I'm just trying to give an informed oppinion on when you can expect the next firmware. If you don't want to read this [hopefully helpful] info, then either don't read it, or tell me, and I won't try to help out any more and leave this forum to the wingers, cause that will achieve something!!!
a big blabla to say i want to defend the x, but don't take any responsability.
doesn't do much good here, doesn't provide usefulness, does it?

Please explain to me how you expect me to take any responsibility for a product which I am only involved with as a user???
so how can you defend any usage or production if you're not part of it?
