Hi...
I'm new to the 6630.. had mine about a month and everything has been fine up to today. I keep hearing (over 20 times in about 2 hours so far) the 'new text message' alert, but when I check, the phone hasn't actually recieved any messages. My girlfriend experienced this on her 6630 briefly a couple of weeks ago but she only got the phantom alerts a couple of times. We are both on the Vodafone network. Has anybody else experienced such wierdness and if so any ideas how to stop it????? ... despite making me look really popular, it is getting quite annoying now.

possibly, but I feel 7 times in 2 minutes a bit excessive. That was my last count before I turned the thing off. I've heard the 'new text' tone approx 40 times in the last 5 hours, but not recieved one message. Sometimes it's just one per hour, other times I get about 5-7 in the space of about 2 minutes.

I've had that on my Vodafone 6630 too, when I had it. I caught it out once, actually using the phone when this happened, and it was trying to downlaod an MMS. Voda were sending SPAM MMS messages to the phone, advertising their film content on the Live! portal. It's not happened to me on the Orange 6630 I have now.
This happened to me yesterday too. I was wondering what was happening. If it was sim updates, you'd still think there'd be a message on screen long enough for you to figure out what it was!
I have had the same thing happen with mine today about 3 times in the space of two hours, thinking i had recieved a message but hadnt, which is really annoying.

The spam they are sending is not compatible with the 6630, hence you get the tone but the 6630 is unable to show the message

checked my log... I seem to have lots of SMS messages from the same number, but also even more 'contract MMS' which are out going (Pack)
What are these, because I didn't send anything out... is it part of the spam thing????
