Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Series80/2.0 Nokia9500/4.51 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1))

astroNix and PowerFile are the musthave game & app for me so far

PowerDesk is an absolute must-have for me, I would be lost without it. Other must-haves are MobiReader, Automail and Agile Messenger. As for games I like Vexed, SFCave, Bounce, AstroNix and of course the Frodo (C-64) emulator.

Wow, I didnt even know there was a Symbian port of Mame!

Raven, since you mentioned it, Ive been scouring Google to find some ROMS that'll work on the 9500, and I can't find anything...I've spent hours!! Can you point me in the right direction? 😃

For the MAME emulator? I don't know, haven't used that one. I only have Frodo (Commodore 64 emulator) installed, and those games were pretty easy to come by.

EDIT: I can't give you a direct link, but those MAME ROMs don't seem that hard to find either... Try typing "mame +roms +download" in your favourite search engine. 😉

Sorry Raven, it wasnt you, it was Switchblade who mentioned it. I have found ROMS to download, but they dont work with EEMame (I think its something to do with the version of Mame for which the ROM was intended).

Switchblade, can you help?!

Best apps for me so far...

1 - PowerDesk (or the cheaper PowerDay) - good Calender replacement but buggy
2 - Smallbase - best database I've found. Very good for importing old Psion databases. Much better than Ydata
3 - Zip manager - Free!
4 - Plan - Project management

I've not come across any games that get my kettle boiling yet but the free golf game is ok (if you like golf games).

Looking forward to:
Aquacalender - Another calender replacement that will be ported to 9300/9500 soon.

Wishlist:
Port of psion 'Agenda' app'.
Doom port

I decided to try the MAME emulator myself, and have noticed that only the smallest, most simple games like Arkanoid, Pacman and the likes work with this emu. You can find a list of supported games here (look under EMame).

You may be aware of this, but WildPalm's Doom 9210 works on the 9500/9300. It can be downloaded here. Unfortunately there is no way to get sound working on the 9500/9300 though. :frown:

Thanks Raven. I managed to find a few that would work, mainly those from packs for other fones. To be honest, I only wanted Bubble Bobble and Bomberman, and it seems I can't get them!

There is a Bubble Bobble version for Frodo which works well:

And I'm sure you can find C-64 Bomberman clones as well. 😊

Lol. Thats very cool, hadnt thought of doing it that way. The next thing you're going to do is impress me by telling me how I can have Bomberman 😃

To get full screen you simply press Menu - Options - Full screen - Enter.

I very much doubt that purchasing the Pro Launcher will enable sound since none of the other options work. I also don't think WildPalm supports Doom anymore. I've written to them about sound support, but haven't gotten a reply.

For Mame ROMs I found mine on the now defunct Suprnova BitTorrent site. The MAME port is an old version (0.37 IIRC) and I got the oldest ROM pack I could find and extracted what works on the 9500. Many of the early 90s classics and older seem to run on it.

As for DOOM, I may be tempted to crack open my old DOOM and have a bit of mobile DOOM/DOOM2 action.

C'mon, bassist_x, you've been a long time member, so you should know by now that ROM requests/sharing is against forum rules.

Hi I found some ROMS but i cant play them... how do i use this application anyway? i launched a game but i dont know what keys to press...? can you post an instruction on how to use frodo... THANKS

Create a folder on your memory card (or C: drive) and name it C-64 (or whatever). Put your ROM files here.

Launch Frodo - press Menu - Launch game disk - browse to the ROM files in the folder you just created. That's it.

And Menu - Help - Keyboard guide for a, well, keyboard guide.
