TomTom Mobile and the Nokia 6680

Have anybody tested TomTom Mobile with the Nokia 6680??

I know it is running on the N6630, but I am curious if the
262K color screen could mess up the compatibility with the N6680.

I know there is an issue with Tomtom Mobile and the N6620 which
messed up the colors, still there is a fix for this...

Would appreciate feedback, since being able to run TomTom Mobile
is a decisive criteria for me buying the N6680.

Thx.

I know, but I thought I'd be early out, and there are some here who allready claim to have the N6680!

dear messus, maybe you remember me from our 'X-time' . I have now bought the 6630, it still has to arrive, but it works perfectly with TOMTOM.
Tomtom wil undoubtably work with the 6680, as it will be the newest symbian 60.
So i wouldn't worry too much about that.

Although i do advise buying a 6630, since they will be getting cheaper as the 6680 comes out, and the 6680 is a bit slower than the 6630.

Yes SPEEDMAN I remeber you ! 😊

How are you?

The reason for me starting this thread is because I want to be certain that it
runs on the 6680. The 6680 has a 262K color screen which the 6630 does not,
so it could be difficulties here!

The Nokia 6620 have problems running Tomtom Mobile, even it is almost the
same phone as the 6600.

This is not 100% true im afraid. Some seem to be ok and some dont.
For instance, the 6630 i currently have does not work with TOMTOM as it should.
It gets so far then freezes 😞 Everything is installed correctly on the 256 dv rs mmc card and it has been tested in my 6600 and all is fine on the 6600.
Now the 6630 i have is 02 branded but i recently had it flashed with a generic firmware (just the same Version V 3.45.113) got it back from the shop, and i popped my mmc back in the 6630 and hey presto it worked a treat. Later i had to format the 6630 itself due to a problem and from then on tomtom was back to normal, freezing once a few screen into the software 😞
Chances are it will work on the 6630 but dont be to gutted if it doesnt as its not 100% it will.

i have the 6630 now for some time and the only problem i encounter with tomtom on it, is the sound: sometimes the sound stutters, other than that: no problem at all! it never freezes like you said. I have now the 3.45, but i'm going to get the 4.05..

i must add that in comparison to the Sendo X, this phone works A LOT better. All the programs i wanted work on it, and everything runs so much smoother ! It's a real breeze ! Thank you very much Nokia !

Hi Speedman, I finally decided to switch to Nokia from my X, too. Thinking about the 6680, seems to be a great phone with lots of features / connectivity. Hopefully a more stable implementation of S60 than the X...

i have the 6630 and i would advise it to you too.
If you take the 6680, it will take some time untill all the bugs are solved in new firmware. Eventually, they will get solved though... unlike the X.
The 6630 works great without any problems and has the latest bugfree firmware. All the apps work greatly and sooo fast.
what an incredible improvement comparing to the X. I'm so glad i got rid of it ! :icon14:

tom tom works on 6680, just exactly as in my old 6630. some other apps don't, like smartmovie, for instance, or autopilote.

GREAT about Tomtom Mobile, too bad about Smartmovie though since it is also
a great application!!

I don't think you've tried the 6680 to be honest.......my 6680 is twice as fast as the my 6630 or even faster.....

Hey,

I don't think you've been reading any threads regarding speed difference's.

Essentially the 6630 & 6680 are the same, except the extra camera & 262K screen, but it's the latter that is giving the processor extra workload. Hence, if you scout around the various forums, according to speed test software most 6630's are coming out with faster figures.

I have TomTom mobile 5 on a 6680 and find that it works fine, except for one thing.
I find that TomTom freezes when I lock the keypad.
It work fine once the keypad is unlocked.

I used TOM TOM on a 3 network 6680 last week on a drive down to London. It was exclellent, loud, accurate and didn't miss a step. Top marks. I want it for my Orange 6680 now 😊
