Currently I think I have my sights set on getting either a 6620, p910a, or Treo 650.
I definitely want these features:
1. Internet browsing capability
2. Camera with video
3. Bluetooth
4. Ablility to play mp3s
5. Can use as a wireless modem for laptops
Right now it seems like the 6620 is the best mainly cause of the software support, but it lacks a qwerty keyboard which could make surfing the internet really annoying. Is typing web addresses using the 6620 really tedious?
the p910a and Treo 650 seem to be on equal grounds except that the p910a is so much more expensive and more cooler looking IMO with that flip keyboard. Also what are the battery lifes on these 3 phones? Any other phones I need to consider?
The 6620 is alright for internet browsing, I use it for that sometimes and the text input isn't too bad. I would get a p910a, since I think the Treo 650 is way too large-I would have gotten it but got a 6620 instead due to the 650's size (mostly, cost was a smaller but still present factor). Palm OS software is really nice, especially games it beats symbian (I have a Zodiac, so I've been looking at Palm news for over a year and a half), I don't know about UIQ software though.
Internet browsing would probably be better on the Treo since it has the highest resolution screen of the three. The Treo has a 2.5 mm headphone/set jack though, so you need an adaptor or new headphones if you want something better than the included headset. I don't think there are any Treo 650s with dial-up networking (modem for a computer/laptop/other PDA) enabled and working 100%, all the ones I've seen don't have it or have had it hacked in, so it is buggy.
My 6620 lasts 2-3 days if bluetooth is off or its not constantly connecting/disconnecting to something (it was to my PC, so that killed my battery while at home). I make/receive 5-6 calls on an average day on it, and do use other functions sometimes (i.e. games or web browsing). I don't use it for mp3s though since I have an iPod and my Zodiac is much better (there is a piece of software for I think $25 for playing mp3s that is really good, can stream from shoutcast stations on the internet etc).
SD cards are usually a lot cheaper than MMCs and Memory Stick/Duos, but thats a fairly rare cost and I don't know how much a factor cost is. The largest SD card is available from SanDisk at 2GB with really good read/write speeds, $150-$200 depending on where you look, and there are 1GB SD cards available for $68 someplaces (http://www.tapland.com has some nice prices for stuff listed). I don't know about MMC vs. Mem. Stick prices.
Wow this post got big fast, and only my third post here too...
