Just bought a 9500, and now I have problems with the MMC card from my 9210i.
The MMC (256 MB) worked and still works perfectly in my 9210i and also works fine if I stick it in a card reader and connect it to my PC, but it gets corrupted all the time in the 9500.
A lot of times,. when I open File manager and browse the MMC card, I get the message "Note: system corrupted" and the MMC is not read anymore.
The behaviour is not consistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I already reformatted my MMC card (in the 9500) and even switched to a different MMC (same brand though since I don't have another one). Sometimes after restarting the phone, the MMC is not even recognized. After removing the back panel and putting it back on, it is recognized again (but not every time). Maybe the back panel doesn't close correctly, but I can't find anything wrong. Where's this switch that determines if the back panel is closed located anyway?
Anyone else experienced this also or any suggestions how to solve this?
The back cover has got a magnetic switch so if the cover is not in place, the MMC wont be detected. You might want to try cleaning the MMC and then format it on your pc, and then format it on the Nokia 9500.
No luck with both of my old MMC cards, but I bought a new 512 MB MMC card yesterday (needed a little more capacity anyway 😊 ) and now everything seems to be stable. Probably just the MMC type being incompatible with the 9500 (no name Chinese MMC card).
Thanks for the info and keeping my fingers crossed that this MMC card will keep on working.
Here's a happening with my 9500 and MMC:
Bought Kingmax 1 Gb MMC, removed backcover, removed battery, put MMC in, put battery back in, put backcover back on, opened the clamshell, NOTHING (screen dead) !
Gave a ugly look to the salesperson, removed backcover, removed battery, removed MMC, put battery back in, put MMC back in, put backcover back on, opened the clamshell, WORKS ! Went to FileManager, started formatting the MMC, waited for about 30 secs to see 1-2% progress, paid the MMC, wandered around the store for about half-hour, completed formatting the MMC, back out of the store and into my car.
Returned home, USB'ed the 9500 to the laptop, copy-paste'ed 800 Mb of junk into the phone's MMC, stared at the process for about 10 minutes, got bored, went to sleep, woke up, saw that the process was over with a message ("WinXP could not complete the operation"😉. Became nervous, measured filecopy speed via USB to phone both into phone's memory and into phone's MMC, found out that copying into MMC was being done at about 30 KBytes/sec and copying into phone's memory was being done three times faster. Judging from the filecopy speed into the MMC, I've slept 7.5 hours. Felt relieved, went to job, told a colleague about the MMC, got flamed: "whatta heck d'ya need that 1 Gb for, yo ?!".
Why the others are always right ?

We are...
The answer to the need question (to shut them up) is of course "pr0n".... the answer to the transfer question is; use an MMC card reader - much nicer 😊
