All,

So - what is the verdict on 4.13

Smoother?
Faster?
Quicker?
Less memory usage?
More stable?

I'm still on 3.18 and may take this opportunity to upgrade if it's worth it.

Regards,

Mick.

Well, I've been playing with 4.13 for a day (upgraded from 3.54) and, whilst there appear to be a few minor differences (maybe from configuration settings changed) the overall feeling is OK. It seems slightly faster & more stable, but this might just be imagination. Nothing dramatically different on memory usage. But definitely not (for me) less stable than 3.54, which I was pretty comfortable with, anyway. And no problems so far with the 3rd party apps (incl. Task Manager, ActiveDesk & some OPL programs) none of which needed to be reinstalled!

I'll update this post if anything changes.

Re firmware upgrade.

Nokia service centres in the UK are run by Carphone warehouse.
0845 3586000 last I heard.

Let me get this right

We need firstly firmware upgrade to 4.13, then the all_memory_card_data.SIS
to complete the operation ?

Would just the .SIS cause problems ?

Probably, although it isn't stated what they might be. I would doubt anyway that there would be any benefit in installing the .sis without the firmware, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Nokia service centres in the UK are NOT allowed to touch the 9xxx phones.

NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH 9210 !!!
What the h*ll ?

Any idea why not?

I'm kinda hoping that once Nokia are happy that they have a firmware that's stable, and they've had it for a few weeks without any big problems, that they'll start to release the firmware to the Nokia service centres.

Well, no harm ever came in hoping eh?

Because they recon the 9210 (and 9xxx) are too complicated for them - apart from the the box needed to do the upgrade costs '000 - and I doubt carphone Ware house want to buy one and only have 3 people come in and have the upgrade done...

Plus in phone centres in the uk, you go in say "Firmware upgrade" and they try and sell you a phone... It's well funny, try it! I triedn asking in the link if they knew where i could do it, and the woman started trying to sell me a phone LOLOLOLOLL User posted image I explained and she still didn't get it User posted image

No wonder Nokia don't trust these kind of people with it. It's like getting your PC repaired at PC World (stupid) User posted image

Flipside, damn what a pretty look!!!

Now I have my comm upgraded yet. I think now I have more free memory during the use of the apps!

BTW, please could you take a look to my last post in "Folder of Messages"?

And BTW, what a hell does LOL mean? User posted image

It means Laugh Out Loud mate. Other alternatives are ROFL (Rolling On the Floor, Laughing), ROFLMAO (Rolling On the Floor, Laughing My Arse Off), LMAO (Laugh My Arse Off), and erm, some more I can't think of....

BTW thank's for the complement. User posted image

I found an article in Electronics Weekly that said 'Telepartner has added electronic software distribution (ESD) capabilities to its mobile field service products. The ESD Manager (Nokia 9210 pictured) allows software upgrades to be sent via the GSM network and then downloaded to each mobile device. Previously the device had to be returned to base to be upgraded'. Maybe Nokia should use this approach for communicator software in the future...

I have upgraded in Luxembourg to 4.13
All seems fine so far
Accessing Internet & WAP using HSCSD V110 is much better than 9600/14400

There is only 1 place in the UK - a company called communicaid and they will pick it up by courier, but I'm sure you can drop it in to them, their address is;

73 North Gate, Alconbury Airfield Alconbury
Huntingdon Cambridgeshire PE28 4WX
Tel 01480 453254

The best way to arrange them to get the work done is through club nokia.

The address for Communicaid is
Kingfisher Way
Hinchingbrooke Business Park
Huntingdon
Cambs
PE28 4ES
Tel; 01480 431431
Collection is available through the Nokia Helpdesk.

Oops, well they are both Nokia User posted image but I was close, coppied the wrong address from yell.co.uk

Just upgraded to v4.13 from v3.18 that was fairly stable. Saw that the bootup became faster but the system itself became much slower. Maybe it needs a reformat. If i only could sync my contacts and calendar with outlook xp before i do that. A way to sync sms with outlook would be nice too. I liked the way that sms was stored as files, except the speed, in the 9110i.

Did anyone from Greece upgrade to 4.13?
I just had my phone back; AlphaCopy returned it to me after 6 days (!) without any upgrade at all!!! User posted image

Do you have any information on how to upgrade the Communicator. I've the 3.63 firmware and I'd like to upgrade it but don't know how to proceed !

Thank's by advance,

Trick Lo.
