50 BUCKS..!!!!!

Its free...!!
As long as you have your note from when you bought it !!!

You need a Dongle to do it, and a heavy load of other things. So doing it at home is just not possible..

Shouldn't matter as long as the phone is still under warranty (12 months?)

Where can I download this firmware upgrade? (It must be an improvement on 3.62, which is _way_ buggy...) All that Psion experience, sadly lost.

Did any one try to open word application ??? it keeps crashing, the version is 3.01

when I open a document using file manager ... word works fine, but choosing a new doc keeps crashing the app.

There's no way to upgrade firmware by yourself, only Nokia Service can do it and it needs also upgrade to MMC to v. 3.00-3.02 (allmemorycarddata.sis)

Boiling Ice> My word is 3.02 and works fine... you have "older" mmc upgrade?

JeP

Well... i'm getting my phone done tomorrow at my NOKIA CENTRE... will update you guys on the new firmware... (i've called the NOKIA guys in my country and they themselves havent done the complete testing yet... damn!!)

There's a case where my fren the last time upgraded his firmware (to 3.62) and later he cant use his RINGMASTER software anymore...

Hopefully this wont happen to me...

they have started giving the 4.13 version , out here in india. It seems that everyone is very very happy with it & it really is very very stable, but i have to use it myself to see if all the software works well with it. will keep u all posted.

ciao

gaurav

Communicaid in the UK is now using 4.13 - they should be picking up my phone today or tomorrow to do it.

I'm kinda nervous as I seem to have one of the few VERY stable 3.54 - so I hope I'm not going to regret this!.

oh man... i was there at the Nokia Centre and then decided not to upgrade my firmware yet... why??? coz the guys at Nokia cant guarantee me that all of my softwares other than the standard one would work fine with the new firmware...

So you guys out there who's using the 4.13 please keep us all updated on the stability of using this firmware with other softwares...

Hi,

Someone has probably asked this already (even though I can't find a mention of it), but please don't flame me.

I've been on the UK Nokia helpline for 20 minutes (but I am assured that my call is important to them User posted image and all I want to know is where I can get a list of Nokia sites in South Wales (Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff) where I can get a firmware upgrade.

I used to go to a Nokia approved company in Bridgend but they don't do the 9210.

I'd rather take the phone to a site rather than get it picked up because I work funny shifts and am therefore not usually home when couriers can turn up.

I understand it's rude to ask for someone to e-mail an answer to a question on a board like this, so if anybody can post a an answer here, I'd be most grateful.

There is only 1 place in the UK - a company called communicaid and they will pick it up by courier, but I'm sure you can drop it in to them, their address is;

73 North Gate, Alconbury Airfield Alconbury
Huntingdon Cambridgeshire PE28 4WX
Tel 01480 453254

The best way to arrange them to get the work done is through club nokia.

Any

Ok...Here is a little story of how things are in Denmark....
I went to my Nokia Concept Store and turned in my 9210 for update...
The guy at the counter almost gave me an heartattack..."You can pick it up again in 30 mins or sit in the couch while we work" WOW I said..
BUT....They knew NOTHING about an updated All_Memory_Data.sis that comes with the firm 4.13 ??????
I said what ????That cantt be ...
Has anyone some info for that ???

A little addition.....

Its even worse.....
They install the Device programs for you User posted image

So how are we to reformat and only install only the apps we (the customer) needs...I always get rid of help and about.
So at the main Nokia support there is actuallty the need for the "new" All_mem and All_device.sis files..If they are new that is?? User posted image
Hmmm..... ??

Mmmm... Im not sure about you say. Are you saying that if I go with my comm to upgrade to 4.13, then I wont can format it never again? After upgrading, will we need both data sis files if we need to format our device? And where could we get the files? And do the files support all the languages?

Regards, Loony!

I have just called to Nokia Service Point here in Madrid, and they have said me that 4.13 is availabe in Spain!! I cant believe it!! User posted image
But they didnt know anything abut what happen with sis files, they got me to call to Nokia Spain direcly. And when I called to Nokia, they say me that they only know about 3.62!!! How is it possible???
Well, I will wait for more information before upgrading,I think...

Regards!

You see User posted image

I had a futher look in the versions of all these preinstalled programs. They all are between version 3.01 to 3.02
Except the EPOC runtime for Java. This is now v4.06 (dont know what it was before ?)

But when I try to reinstall calculator from the "old" pack , for instance, it says im trying to install a version 1.01 over a v3.0

Great thing is that they boosted the boot time ALOT.And the PC connectivity seems to run smoother

It usually takes a while for Nokia to get their act together and update the pages. I guess it will also be different this time as they are probbably going to have to maintain 2 versions of the files (3.64 and 4.13), since they cant refer back to the CD.

I let you know if I get anything.

I guess I have to agree with Patrick... ( greetings + some nims will be shortly on the way 2 you)... I think we are almost the only happy few to still have 3.54 running.

My 3.54 is just working fine, even after I had to format the C drive (ouzo effect, I guess) & re install everything (+ made format of mem card). I actually have with C drive a used mem of about 980 kb... Not bad at all... And after all, this format of C + D was the best thing on my 9210, and gave a great stability to version 3.54...

Back to the topic...

Here in Greece, things are wired with all Club Nokia & family. What kind of updates or any new apps with this new firm version? Did anyone test it ? I think I am getting kind of confused with all possible ways mentioned in this topic to update... What about the sis file. Do we need it or not ? My comment is that here in Greece, they are not even aware of what they are doing with themselves... So, bring my 9210 to be updated in any Club Nokia or Nokia Centers would be even worse than what happened to Manowar (Ola), with one not knowing about a newer firm version. So I guess Iwill pass on this one until further notice.

Regards & Filakia

The above & last comment was made by... Me, Myself and I !!! I got burned out with the time connection using my 9210. Guess I have 2 change net settings... Is it possible for our dear web master to upload my name 7 details on last quote, as i can not do it. Thanks & sorry for troubles.

Beast Regards & Filakia

Edited to show user! R.

For LoonyWorld

In case you didn't visit yet the Nokia Forum page there are the following files for (http//forum.nokia.com/main/download_software_9210_2.htmlfirmware 4.13</a>😉
<li> All memory card data in one SIS package (excluding the Java application)
all_memory_card_data.sis (SIS file, size 3.11 MB) </li>
<li> All memory card data package for Apac
All_memory_card_data_Apac.sis (SIS file, size 2.51 MB)</li>

Nokia Greece tells me I have to send them my 9210 via a Nokia Club; at the Nokia Club nearest to me I was told that I have to hand them my 9210 for 7-10 days, and no I am not supposed to be provided with any other cell phone during this period of 7-10 days. Will ever any of the Nokia people get serious? I will discover it the day after tomorrow, when I will travel to Helsinki on business =)<font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by dimitri on 2002-01-10 1402 ]</font>
