Indeed it is...
I also spoke with Nokia Support this morning, and they did not seem to know of the issue. They have escalated this post and my blog on the subject to the developers. Lets hope they find the issue and put it on the FAQ on nokia.com
Well I can only say that I am surprised that they don't know about this issue when I have exchanged about 50 messages (no joke!) with the programmer who is working on the problem and run the same amount of tests for him while he is trying to fix the problem!
I think he is very close now and he has been able to identify where the problem is... I am confident that the code will be fixed soon.

I am glad... nice one.
Obviously their support and dev teams are not communicating properly...
Hello!
I'm new to this site, but I experienced the same problem as you. PcSuite wouldn't synchronize my contacts after I (with intent) deleted them from my phone.
The solution was as follows:
-Open explorer on your PC.
-Enable view hidden files.
-Browse to the folder C:\documents and settings\%User%\Application Data\Nokia\PCSync\SynchData\[Series of numbers]
If you have connected multiple phones to your computer you will see one folder for each phone. I checked my registry to clarify which folder belongs to each phone. Just use find (in regedit) and enter the number of your model.
Delete the files in the folder in question.
This I only tested ones, but it was enough to get it kicking again!
Hope this helps you!
I think we are discussing different problems related to synchronisation.
Just to clarify: my problem is related to PC Suite 6.6 and the way it accesses folders in a Exchange server. This problem cannot be solved clearing the synchronisation history nor by any other means (from a user point of view). That's why a modification of the program is required.
There might be other problems in PC Suite connected to synchronisation but the one above is the one I'd like to see fixed.

Alright! I just concentrated on the question that started the discussions.
I'll throw this out for what it's worth, if it helps someone it'll be worth it.
Found this thread when googling the same problem on my series 60 phone 3650 with PC Suite for Nokia 3650 version 1.0.0. Am using Outlook 2003.
Someone suggested earlier on creating a new syncronization task and that worked for me. It saves you the trouble of unistalling the software, mucking about with the registry and whatnot.
In my version I go to Syncroinization->Configure Tasks->Contacts and choose Manage Tasks for Contacts. I selected and deleted the one task listed there and then created a new one. The settings I'm using are PC overides device and only copy PC entries to device. OK all the way through and now starting sync copied all 351 Outlook contacts to the phone. Whew!

Just as a follow up to the people who read the previous messages in this thread, I want to add that after many tests and reports a few days ago I have been provided with a working version of the sync part of PCSuite 6.6. My synch nightmare is finally over! 😊 It's working in my environment and I am confident that the official version of PCSuite will soon be updated to include this modification. I reckon the problems were confined to a specific scenario (remote exchange server, not local outlook data) but I think it's still good for eveybody that they have worked on this problem and found a solution.

I think I've figured out why it happens but not how to fix it...
While connected and ready to sync, goto Settings > Microsoft Outlook and click the Select Folders button. Here you can browse to find the folders to sync with, but the folder I'm looking for is not available for selection! And if you check the textfield before the Browse button, it correctly indicates where to sync to. Which makes me think this is the reason it duplicates everything... it knows where the info has to go, but can't read the info for some reason...
Does anyone know where to from here? I don't want to be forced to re-install 6.5... Nokia should say something about this...

Utenteanonimo64, please could you send me the fix on (my username)@hotmail.com.
When will the updated version be released?

Unfortunately I can't do it because I have it on my work pc and I am on vacation at the moment. Besides I don't think I am allowed to do that. I have no idea about when Nokia will officially release a new version of PCSuite. In any case when I return from my vacation, two weeks from now, if Nokia has not yet updated the program with this correction I will send it to you.

Please send it as soon as you are at home. I use it as my bussiness-phone. It's a real trouble that I now can't sync my appointments any more.
It's a real shame! Could the nokiaemployee maybe help me??
It's a real shame. I use my 6230 as bussiness phone and now I can't sync my appointments to the phone. It is realle frustrating.
Please could anyone help me (the nokia emploiyee maybe??). I really need a solution very soon!

File sent to your address. Have you tried it?

Not Yet! I've just with much trouble go back to 6.41. After deleting 500+ triple appointments it now works again. I don't have the guts to try it again now, but maybe in the weekend.
Thank You!
Hairsy wrote:If I do not connect my LAN cable and boot the laptop standalone then I can use PC Suite to sync.
My experience with 6.6 seems to be the same as several others:
- The same appointments being written again and again to Outlook
- No appointments being written to phone
- Unable to select folders to be synchronized in Outlook
I've tried the same with Outlook 2000, Outlook 2003, Windows 2000, Windows XP SP2 and all variations thereof. Reinstallations of everything were futile.
The response from Nokia Support was to delete C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Application data \Nokia\PCSynch\SynchData\"serial", which didn't seem to do much.
Your post made me try something though - syncing with Outlook in offline mode.
Presto! All of a sudden it all works as it should - no duplicates and all appointments being merged in Outlook and phone calendar.
Could this be due to us running Exchange 5.5, while Nokia and much of the rest of the world running Exchange 2000 or 2003?

It could be. In my case the problem was definitely related to access to the Exchange server and I know my company has a rather old version of Exchange (but I think it is Exchange 2000). If you want to try the correction I was sent from Nokia's software vendor send me a private message with your email address.

Please do - my email sent in PM. The Nokia supporter I dealt with today was actually quite responsive and understanding about my issue, but he needed me to upgrade my firmware (from 3.30) before he was allowed to escalate to a tech...

Excellent - the fix worked fine. Still not able to select the folders in the Outlook profile settings, but as long as it works I'm happy. Thanks! 😃
Too many requests!!! I think I am doing no harm in making it available for everyone. I thought Nokia would release a new version of PC Suite quickly but maybe they need to test several fixes and it's taking quite a long time.
So here it is!
Replace Outlook2.dll with the one in the zip file (save the original one before overwriting it). If it doesn't work for you then put back the old DLL and contact Nokia about your problem (it must be another one)!

PS:I don't know why the attachment is reported to be so big (1MB) when it's actually 103KB

Utenteanonimo64, The file is not in my mailbox :con?
Mail is: [username]@hotmail.com
edit: Sorry, I didn't see the post above :banghead:
Cheers! This helped me... I had to overwrite the .dll and remove the folder under 'documents and settings' before it would go through... but eventually I got there.
Thanks heaps!
AndyMX9 wrote:Hi Utenteanonimo64,My version of Microsoft outlook is 2000 too, but my O.S. is XP home edition. My 6630 sync's fine, my problem is in text message editor and clicking on: choose receipient, it comes up no contacts found, yet with version 6.5 they are there but you can't use 6.5 to send text's with a symbian phone so I'm still no better off. I'm sure 6.6 is missing apart of it's software for it to run correctly as it comes up with unable to create contact finder, please reinstall 6.6. but on reinstalling it, it's still the same. Is it working ok on your PC?

:icon4: I've exactly the same Problem! The same Error Message!
Unable to create Contact Finder. Please reinstall PC Suite.
But I still do not know any solution! Did you find one?
Have you tried reinstalling PC Suite ? Have you been running reg.clean ?
Error message indicates that there is something wrong in registry, if you have edited the registry, PC Suite maybe now confused. Try reg clean and reinstall PC Suite

Utenteanonimo64 - I am so sorry you had to deal with this issue for almost 3 months!! I have only been dealing with it for a week on my 6680 and about lost my mind!!!
Thanks to ALL of you who shared your experience in this thread. Here's what I did based on all posts/advise:
1. Uninstalled 6.6.16
2. Removed all folders, files, directories related to Nokia, PC Sync and Cable Drivers
3. Did a Find on 'Nokia', '6680' and 'PC Sync' in the registry. Manually cleaned up all relevant registry hits, ensuring ALL instances of Nokia, PC Sync and 6680 were removed. (BTW, Nokia clean up software does not do this).
4. Installed latest PC Sync software (6.6.18)
Shame on me for ever thinking I could delete all contacts and calendar items on a my device to avoid duping 😉 Will never make this choice again!
Thanks again to you all! I might actually enjoy my weekend now - suppose to be a beautiful fall day in colorful Colorado!
Update for PCSuite 6.6 is available at the Nokia site. I haven't tested it yet but I really hope they have included the necessary corrections to make synchronization work better in all environments.

:frown: I *really* need help now. Have no idea what to try next:
My problem is that when i try sending a text using the Nokia Text Message Editor and hit the "to" button to select a contact the "choose recipient" box that comes up provides a huge messy list of duplicate contacts (Jennifer1, jennifer2, jennifer3...), old now-deleted contacts, just a mess. These contacts are not in my outlook contacts file, they are not in the windows address book, they are not in the phone memory contacts list, they are not in the SIM card contacts list. Where the F--K are they? And how do i get rid of them!? What list is the Nokia Text Message Editor accessing? No amount of rejigging of the PC Suite synchronisation settings is making any difference - i have been trying all day. I really have no idea what to try next - please help, or direct me to somewhere more appropriate to ask this question. Thank you very much.
I am using the most recent version of PC Suite
PC Suite 6.6.18
Outlook 2003
Phone is Nokia 7600
Operating system:
Microsoft Windows XP
Build 2600
Service Pack 2
Bluetooth stack:
Microsoft Bluetooth stack
Version 5.1.2600.2180
MOst likely you have used NOkia PC Suite also earlier and with more than one phone and the phonebook content of those phones is stored to PC. When you click on the "to" button, all the datastores are shown and dublicates appear.
YOu might get rid of that is you look under application data - datalayer. Any folders there relating to many phones ? Under those folders there may appear contactsDB files and you may(or may not, your call) choose to delete some of those (obviously don't delete your current phone folder.
Another source of duplication may be that you have used the "content transfer" option in Nokia Content Copier to transfer your contacts between multiple phones.
