Over the last few days my 6680 has started connecting to the net for no reason. Connection duration is of 34 or 35 seconds. At the most, ever, 1kb or 2kb is sent/received. So whilst data costs at that level should not become an issue, I am bothered as to why this has started to happen. The last app I installed/deleted is the Epocware weather app.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any solutions?
Not your e-mail account 'polling' is it?
No it isn't, thanks for the suggestion. I checked the settings though, just to be sure. Thing is the phone is connecting every minute. Connects for 34-35 seconds, disconnects, then connects again.

Intriguing. What applications are running in RAM?

sounds like you may have installed a program that needs an interent connection...
I have come to the conclusion (by the evidence at hand) that the weather beta app from epocware was at fault.
I installed the app, and had the settings to check for updates periodically. After a few days I uninstalled the app, without changing the settings at all from that. Since the uninstall, the phone would continually try and connect to the net, each attempt lasting around 35 seconds before disconnecting and trying again. This would continue until the phone registered a transfer of 2 - 4kb. All previous attempts the phone registered data transfer of 0kb.
As the last app I had installed before this problem was the weather app, I re-installed. This time I set the connection update to manual, rather than letting the phone do it automatically. I then uninstalled the weather app again. Since then the phone has not retried to connect to the net as it was before.
The only thing that shoots down my conclusion is I had the weather app connecting via the Orange internet APN, the phone when demonstrating this strange behaviour was trying to connect via the orange wap APN. However, regardless of this, re-installing the app and setting the connection period to manual before uninstalling has 'cured' the problem.
