What do use your communicator for?

A friend of mine working in GSM company
in finland says WAP is obsolete technology?

So what do you say?!
Eventhough it was introduced in 2000 or 2001
its very slow and people doesn't use it alot? is this
true??!

I think it's quite a usefull way of connecting
to the internet without a laptop just a small
cellular device.

I dont think there is anything wrong with WAP. If anything its the Web that has lost the plot.

Links turn out to be bloatware that takes an age to load via dial up, with stupid child like graphics all over the page. The pages are rather like American moives, high on visual effects but short on content. When a page finally loads it is usually junk anyway.

This garbage is slowly strangling the Web, as idiots send "live" images of thier boring lives to no one who cares, and Gamers sit in bedrooms playing a life that they should be living for real, as they clutter up the information highway. On top of that the damn thing is swamped with spam, porn, viruses and bots/dialers etc.

Give me WAP any day. I just want the news...

Programming mostly....I program for the EPOC OS, so i create alot of programs using vC++ 6.0, and run them on my 9290...I created a dos-like program just for fun, and a tv remote controller, for example.....so now I use my 9290 as a universal remote controller.

I wish I had bluetooth and WiFi on it.

I am proud to use my 9210 but I wait for the 9500 😊) in teh fall winter 2004 !
I manage may 1500 contact with ease.
Sending SMS it's relly piece of cake, instead of other cell ph.
It's really a masterpiece of Nokia.
I desperately look for a PC manager for the Nokia 9210 Contacts exacly in the way the symbian included device does for the phone😞((.

Eh? Noone uses 92XX anymore? I must be special? It is great tile to bring along. WWW-browser, Video player(duh the sound is crap), gaming(not much, they dont make much games for it nowdays..). Biggest Pro i found is the price. 75� I found it.. Con is that it is not compatible with the new 9X00 ones. Dam I would like that :P

Goodbye 9210i and Welcome 9500!

The 9210i is out of production I guess. Only the old communicator models are stopped from manufacturing when newer ones come out. As was the case with 9210 soon after the release of 9210i.

I guess its because these phones are so expensive, nokia does not manufacture obsolete models of the communicator series 9xxx anymore, since no one would buy obsolete models directly off the assembly line, so you can only get 2nd hand and used older models.

I use my 9210 for playing videos (big movies, last seen Terminator 2 with Finnish subs), games (Rayman, Doom 2, Ultimate Doom), coding OPL and lots of stuff! It�s great! I once sold my 9210, but I missed it so much that I had to get a new one. I sold my Motorola A925 and replaced it in 9210 😊 I won�t ever get rid of this phone! Ever! My preciousss...

Try upgrading to the new 9500. You will see a lot of difference. The phone is smaller, lighter. The speaker phone has a much better quality, though I think its output volume at maximum is less than the 9210i, however it has stereo surround audio playback. It has all built in software for playing MP3's and WAV's. You can set whole songs as ringtones now, as I have done. And the major difference is that it has a dual color screen, with 2 different operating systems and the communicator interface screen being more brighter and improved with the new 65k colors.

Plus it has Bluetooth, WiFi, a VGA camera and many many more...

Basically the most difference I noticed and like is the 65k color screen, it is much much more better than that old 4k color screen.

By the way the games you have Rayman, Doom 2, Ultimate Doom, where did you download them from? Doom used to work fine on my 9210i, but it crashes on start when I open it on my 9500 weird. :frown:

Brethren, please help this wretched. I have a 9210 communicator, my memory card was corrupted and it infected the communicator also. So I formatted my Communicator and Alas! I lost all the preinstalled software. I don't have CD. Now I am doomed! What can I do now, Except ask for help from this forum. Please help me get the All_nokia_9210_data.sis back. My email Id is [email][email protected][/email] To top it all, the nokia has withdrawn support!!!! Please, please help me.
