Major Trouble 6680

Hi there,
i think i need your help :frown:
I got my 6680 two months ago. It looks very nice and also a bit weighty!
Now my question is, if i loose the signal because i'm underground, later, when display tells me that signal is OK again i cannot call at all and i have to turn OFF/ON (reset) my cell to get it working.
Is that normal? Is that firmware related? VERY ANNOYING :icon13:

...and what about display lightness that automatically dims :banghead:

Thanks

lsangio

My 6680 has no problems to pick up the signal when it looses it (due to whatever). Don't really see that very often, because there is good coverage everywhere, including metro tunnels & such.

The display and keypad backlight is impacted by the ambient light (that's what the little sensor "window" in the upper left front corner is for). It is a feature that helps conserve battery (when it is bright enough, the backlight is not unnecessarily on).

Are you under 3G mode ?, I've experienced the same behaviour under 3G, under GSM mode no problem.

I have had this same problem. So switched to GSM no problems now

Ohhhhhh......YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH................... :icon14: IT WORKS!!! And as anybody can see i'm not alone!
Well my cell performs quite good after switching from dual mode to GSM.
What i was afraid of was a telephone failure 😃
Really video calling is not allowed when in GSM mode?

thanks a lot Havana

Problem with 6680 that is not able to do a location update after loosing both 2G and 3G at the same time (on plain, both, metro) is from the phone. Software 3.04.37 fixed this - at least for our network. And no, video-call is a 3G feature only!
