Images & Memory Issue

I read on this forum a while ago that memory could be saved by assigning a picture to a contact then deleting them in the Images and they would still be assigned to the contact, thus saving space.

I would like to verify that this does not work. I ended up with the same memory space as I did before I assigned the pictures and deleted them. And yes, it's been many power cycles and the memory space is still the same.

I think the earlier post refered to the fact that while the contacts will remain the same, the overall memory taken up is less.

Contacts Image + Image in 'Images' application = 2 lots of data

Contacts Image only = 1 lot of data.

Half the memory load.

This is true, it adds around 1kb to each contact.
