7650>how to make few things to actually work!

Hello ppl. I know many of these things have been discussed but ive seen so much bull about things i have to write some more bull(tm) 😉.
first lets see the BLUETOOTH with NOKIA7650.
Ive had discussions with both Teleconnection-providers and NOKIA engineers about this. NOKIA has tested Bluetooth connection with ONLY 1 CARD, and its SOCKET's PCMCIA card. People have been trying out 3com,zio,tdk -usb-dongles and many have noticed : The damn Nokia SUite wont work. Well, i myself took the BT-adapter back to shop and took IRDA -device. With IRDA the hassless ended like a fly between my ricesticks 😉. The suite works fine. So make sure YOU KNOW WHAT youre buying. The ZIO usb-adabter makes decent connection between 7650 and PC and you can move files with it, but no WORK for NOKIASUITE. be aware!
Second theres been hassles with GPRS and email. You know, you have your Tele-provider which should provide you with the specs to connect to internet. You have to use IP 0.0.0.0 to make WWW (webviewer) and ChatClients (westone) to work. Here in Finland they have flatrate-grps's so the IRC and CHAT clients-use is inexpensive. Be aware the rates in your homecountry. Ive using a gprs right now which drains you with 1mb/2$ for the data-flow. With EMAIL you have a IP which your tele-provider provided to you and if you dont use it, youre connection wont work with email-server. First try POP3 and AFTER that if you have problems use IMAP4. Thats just because IMAP4 gives you problems more than POP3, atleast in most of the cases ive been in.
Thirdly i must remind all of you bout installing softwares/games which has not been sertifiedly tested by someone else before. With JOYKICK application i got my phone to enormous hangover and only hardreset (filedeleting etc.) did aid and make my phone to work again. I also installed DOOM and noticed there was not enough memory to run it. Luckily i havent locked out my cell, like so many of you has.

Also be patient with software. People are making SYMBIAN programs and everybody wants a piece ($$$) of this cake. Some of them are on the move with a moneyglanze in their eyes but theres also freelancers who can program clever apps to this great phone. Dont go installing everything you find on the web, just wait a few weeks more and see the same-program to multiply.

Use forums (like this), read the FAQ's and once more, Study some more what has been done before. Then youre in a clean path with a warm hand2hand company with your brand new 7650. 😊

take care,

Hi MRC64,

Just want to say that you have alot of valid points here, although it took took me two readings to realise it.

It's clear that the nascent 7650 SW industry needs protection, so that the hardworking developers on shoestring budgets actually get some return, instead of seeing their stuff warezised all over the place. The stance of this forum on this issue is exemplary (said as a mere thread-reader).

On the other hand, the oncoming Christmas market and falling prices should see second wave of 7650s come onto the market, and so, yes, $$$ will light up in some people's eyes and some naff SW should come out in the hope that people will buy it "by mistake".

However, I haven't seen that happen yet. Some of the early apps seem to be very good, many offering trial periods. Model product I think is SeleQ which has been praised extensively here. Here's hoping that its an example that's followed.

heh, sorry for my language failures and my style to write stuff. It was not the first (nor the last) time i got comments bout that. You can see where im from so you possibly know ENGLISH is not my mother lang. You should just see what i type with my globe-friends. 😉 You made many wise points there, and lets just hope were getting something for our moneys'n'spendings = QUALITY SOFTWARE 😊
take care,

Re. your language, no rebuke meant whatsoever. In fact the IT and mobile industry owes alot more to tech genius than to English prose writing skills, never truer in Finland's case (speaking as a Linux-user and Nokia-owner!)
