WAV AND/OR MP3 TO .MIDI

I have tested once such a program (maybe from www.mp3.com ?) but the
midi that is produced is so _really_ BAD quality, that its not recommended.

Although it take much lesser space, but woul'd be losing alot of sound quality. but on the other hand, you could get s 400 kb 8 second WAV file ringtone!

(which is really good! and loud! with vocals too)

Ohhhh, 400kb! You could go a lot lower than that with compression. The speaker on the 7650 is hardly high fidelity so lowering the bit rate and converting to mono has little effect on the quality when it rings.

My ringtone is a wav file, it's 9 seconds long and takes up 140kb (ish).

i've got a 22sec ringtone at 180kb which is resampled to 8000KHz 8bit mono which is fine for me. it's clear enough to hear all the words. used goldwave if anyone's interested.
