N70 and Bluetooth v2.0 or v1.2

I'm gonna try sending files from both E398 and 6600 once my bro returns to the N70. Lets see if it can handle 'multiple file transfers'.

Btw, just yesterday i was sending some 4 mb file to 6600, for some odd reason it went 'DIRT SLOW' it took literally 15-20 mins to send that file!!

BTW - Does anybody have a good site that explains accurately the difference between all these Bluetooth versions? Also a director or listing stating the versions in Nokia and SE phones??

Thanks for any help.

As far as I know the only update in supposed v2 Bluetooth is is range and bandwidth. I say supposed because sometime manufacturers twist or construe small updates to be large ones and brand their products as the next gen to sell more. http://www.phptr.com/articles/article.asp?p=24267&rl=1
Whether they are wrong in doing so is left to the consumer. Generally sites I've read outline the range to have increased from 10m to 100m for the top of the line class 1 transmitters. Also as previously posted the bandwidth went from 756kbs to around 2.3mbs transfer rate. What these basically mean is they just amped up the power and improved the compression and signal strength.

Bluetooth devices have always been able to multi connect as bluetooth was designed with being a cord replacement for keyboards and mice while conserving power IE targeted at low power devices like laptops and cellphones. Which is why it fit so well with other low power devices like mp3 players and portable video gamers. Now with greater bandwidth of the v2 it makes multiple media size connects more viable. Main problem I see with your multiple setups is like you guys have said different transmit profiles, I haven't much experience with this sorta thing as the audio profiles are fairly new and mildly supported, little or none for macs so I hear. Possible solution I see trying out might be to grab another dongle for your comp in case a second bluetooth allows a second transmit profile.

Also beware of dongles as they tend to be limited application of any new tech. Wifi used to have dongles til customers wanted better connects/multiple connects and router abilities all in one. Usb disk dongles were nice until we needed more space and found a nifty little gadget named the ipod with it and more. Basically said BT dongles fall short of being a "bluetooth hub" partly because these new profiles give very specific transmission requirements. And multiple bluetooth transmitions are designed not to interfere. Anyways I overload you with this info because I feel the need to make info that i had to hunt down more easy and available.

I sent some pictures to my friends N70 and it sent fast because after sending the pictures I sent them to a 6230. That went a lot slower. N70 <-> N70 = fast N70 <-> older phone (in this case 6230) slow

But what I noticed was that my PDA has bluetooth 1.1 or 1.2 and can have multiple connections aswell. It was connected to the TomTom mkII GPS Receiver and meanwhile I sent a picture from my N70 to my iPaq

Thanks onlyoneskwalla for that info.

I've also noticed speed as you Liquid_Li0n - pic to a mate and his N70 = fast...pic to another with a SonyEricsson K750i = slow.

My N70 seems to handle multiple connections, I had it connected to my powerbook via Salling Clicker and at the same time was playing Blockeroo (FUN) with my mate on his N90. Saying that though, seeing as though some people are having issues maybe it's dependant on the BT protocal that's in use? (This is mostly a guess, but i mean like using Bluetooth stereo and bluetooth file transfer or something like that)

Apologies if I'm busting in on this discussion, but I have a bluetooth connectivity issue with my N70 and this seems like the right group of people to ask ........

I have a bluetooth headset from Samsung (WEP 200) and of course both devices say they'll work with anything.....

I can find the headset and pair with it (apparently) but when I get an incoming call, I don't get any sound in the earpiece (no ringtone) and if I do the 'accept call' thing on the headset, it thinks I'm trying to do a speed-dial.

Interestingly, when the device is first paired, the bluetooth symbol displays ok, but after attempting an incoming call, the symbol on the phone changes to (B) (Assume B is the bluetooth symbol in my example).

Any thoughts, wise ones? 😊
