I have Nokia 6680, connected to pc via USB cable DKU-2, driver version 1.00.150.6. Phone SW: V 2.04.15. Nokia Pc Suite version: 6.60.18.
OS is windows xp pro + SP2. The system is a laptop computer (based on Intel PIV 3.06 GHz HT).
I belive some people on this forum are aware of this connection problem among Nokia phones, regarding connecting through wires or wireless. I tried all the solutions I found over the internet (as much as I could seek), but nothing worked. I belive only reinstalling OS could fix the problem, but this is my last option.
So, if someone had fixed this problem without reinstalling the OS, should share its experience. Thanks.
I have been using the Nokia PC suite happily for months, suddenly Saturday the same problem occured on my laptop.
Both Bluetooth and USB connections fail. Sync appear to work OK, at least the phone displays the sync process and shows updated records when I connect using Bluetooth.
Any attempt to use the phone browser or install apps result in the above error message.
I have also un-installed, cleaned the registry using the Nokia tool and reinstalled. This did not solve the problem.
During the weekend I did install a number of applications, mainly Nero 7 Premium, but I seriously doubt this is the cause.
I event uninstalled the latest MS Windows XP update which arrived on the 11th just in case that was the cause.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Phones failing are 6680, 9500 and 7710 regardless of connection method.

Michael
I also did all the above mentioned methods for resolving windows potential problems. I suspect something wrong in windows, not a faulty phone software, cable or drivers. Something happened in windows that altered or corrupted something that is so well hidden that nothing seems to be able to repair it (for now), other than reinstalling windows on a clean partition. It's a nightmare (for me) to reinstall all the programs, not to mention that i'll lose every particular setting, updates etc.
PS: I also installed at a point in the past (when connection with the phone was ok) nero 7. I don't know if this is the problem, but if this could be, i'll be mad, cause without nero 7, my dvd drive works messy...
Well, if you were able to access the phone a couple of times after installing Nero, that is hardly the problem.
It was just the larges app I installed in the week-end.
Others were
DvdXcopy
TMpgEnc DVD Author
KISS PC-Link
I also suspect a corrupted communications or security setting somewhere, but with several layers of Firewalls, Anti-spyware and Anti-Virus, there are many apps influencing communications.
I do have another PC with Nero 7 on it - I will try the Phone Browser from that one tonight to isolate the problem to Nero - or drop the theory.

I'll try to test it after i'll unninstal nero 7. If something goes well after, nero 7 should be the problem.
I have Nero7 installed and the communication between the pc and a Nokia 6630 is still working fine.
Nero 7 doesn't seem to cause this problem. It's something else.
Hello...
I'm having the exact same problems... And I also installed Nero 7... and it seems that after that things stoped working. It's just strange that we all just installend nero 7 and after that things stoped working.

I don't know if this error is connected to nero 7 application, but I cannot test this yet, in a few days i'll give you the answer. On my computer, it's imposible to recreate the conditions before nero 7. I un-installed it, but I still get the error. I must test it on a nero 7 free computer, before and after.
Just wait...
It is probably not Nero - I just connected my phone via the cable to my stationary PC were Nero is installed as well.
No problem at all.
Nokia Tech Support asks me to wait for the next PC Suite release - estimated within 3 weeks or so.
It should address several problems. They were aware of our problem, but I was not able to get any hint of a reason.
They did mention some customers had installation problems, I do not believe this is the case here, as it has worked since June with no problems until it stopped Saturday.

I think it's a bug in PC Suite. Reinstall OS or wait to the next release of pc suite, these are the options :frown: (for me, at least)
I just wanted to say I had the exact same problem and when I tried tech support of my network provider they just told me they don't know what I'm talking about and I should just reinstall my computer!
Also, I did Install Nero 7 too. It was a beta version of the program and it was full of mistakes. After reading what you wrote it seems to me that Nero 7, in some systems at least, could have been the source of this problem. Or, maybe just a specific version of it (like the beta?)
Anyway, I hope we can overcome this problem and I'll keep looking for new messages here until a solution would to be find.
Thank you very much for your help so far.

i just had the exact same problem with you all too..my phone is 7610,i use pc suite 6.60.18..and i just installed nero 7 premium some days ago..
let's solve this problem together..i'll post in this thread if i found something about this issue..
i am working with the newest nokia pc suite with nokia 7260 on win xp os. everything is worikng besides the browser option.
i have another computer base on XP and there its work, it has also nero 7 so i think that this isnt the problem
i would like to know if someone will find solution to this problem
tanx
I'm sorry boys and girls, I can't figure it out. I tested the latest pc suite on another computer (OS win xp pro), but everything worked fine. I said, what the heck, let's try with the latest release of nero, v 7. And again, everything was ok. So, it seems that not nero 7 is causing these problems. Maybe there are incompatibilities between other software and pc suite, or something in windows itself.
I forgot to mention that a couple of weeks ago (about the same time when I noticed that my 6680 connection didn't work) I discoverd my laptop infrared connection was dead. A buddy's sony ericson t610 has been working fine until that day. I don't know if it was the same day when these two phones stopped working, but it seems that something damaged windows ability to comunicate wireless with devices. My 6680 is connected via usb cable, not bluetooth. Only T610 is wireless. So, it's weird, I can't use anymore a mobile phone, even if it's infrared connected.
I recommend a full windows reinstalation, it seems the only possible way to return to normality. I couldn't find any other remedies for this problem on the web.
PS: somewhere in the near past, I unninstalled zone alarm from my computer. Maybe 6680 error is related to this event, I'm not sure......
Hi this is my first time on this forum and i hope you can help. After reading your threads i have realised that i am having the same problem, i used to have a 3120 but after connection problems with the usb to the pc suite i the the phone was faulty, so i took it back and exchanged it and bought a 6630 instead. After a full charge i installed pc suite it showed the phone as being connected like with the previous phone but it would only perform a sync, it couldn't see the contents of the phone when trying to add applications, like with the previous phone. I do have nero 6 reloaded on but i had that installed for a while before pc suite was first installed and pc suite worked fine with it, but i hadn't used pc suite for a while when i discovered that it wasn't working, so i uninstalled and reinstalled with the newest version but still nothing. I have also tried nokia's registry cleaner and still nothing. I know its not the usb ports cos ive had them checked and i have even been in bios, but to be honest i didn't really know where to start so i didn't do much. My os is an athlon 2200 with xp pro sp 2 it has norton anti virus 2005 with norton system works 2003. Is this related to your problems and what else could i try? Also i have tried in my mates computer and it did work apart for the install applications as it stall said it couldn't show the contents of the phone
Hi... a friend of mine has found a solution and it worked for me, try this...
via Start > Run execute this command (without the " ) "Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll"
That's it! Now it works 😊
Hi i have just tried what you suggested and it said parameters not found, did i do it right? I went to start and clicked run a small box came up and i typed Regsvr32.exe%Windir%\system32\OLe32.dll with out the " and with the " but still nothing.

@murcury: try adding a space between Regsvr32.exe and the rest...
I'm glad it worked for the rest of you.
Hi All,
I am experiencing some problems with my PC SUITE 6.5. I tried to do the run thing where everyboday was able to find useful. Mine succeeded but I still am unable to get the PC recognize my phone. I was able to successfully install the hardware driver as my 6630, but it seems that when using Nokia PC Suite, I am unable to use the connection. There are no connections recognized. Does this have something to do with my version? Should I use 6.6 instead of 6.5? Also, I get the error message "cannot use media modules" what does this mean? I get that when I try to access the manage connections icon. your help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you get some of these two errormessages together with the message that you cant use the Media Modules?;
"Code MM List Empty"
"Connection to Nokia PC Suite failed. Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite. (Code: Init IMediaControl2)".
