When will they make this phone with a QWERY keyboard? They have all the elements, except the QWERTY. The Sony Ericsson M600 almost gets it right, but they blew it by not putting in a camera.

are you sure? In USA it is available now, isn't it?

No, it is not available in the USA or elsewhere yet (and USA is not usually the first place where Nokia phones become available anyway, except for the US-only/CDMA models).

Hi Rafe,

Great preview you wrote there...Just waiting for this impressive handset to come out in the Q1.06

By the way I'd like to mention a typo in the second last answer "In terms of the features the lack of auto focus in the camera is a negative, and the slide mechanism (no spring) will not be to everyone's tatse."

Thats all...Waiting for you review 😉

And I dont think this phone features a Processor..

I called vodafone Uk and they told me that i can upgrade to the N80 on the 5th March.

The only problem is that many 3rd party applications are not going to be compatible as the N80 uses s60 3rd edition. I want to run TomTom Mobile 5 or Route 66 Mobile 7 but I'm not sure how long it will take the developers to upgrade/update their software accordingly. If its going to be too long I might have to go for an N70 instead..no wifi, no 3mp camera, no high res screen...:frown:

And I called vodafone and apparently the n90 will only be out in april which is $%&%^ really....

Hello.

Can anyone answer the question if Voice over IP will be possible? At the Nokia-Website you can read it will be possible with the E60, but no single word about that for the N80.

Thank you
Thorsten

Yes it will support VOIP, though in what forms is not clear. It's part of Nokia's UMA portfolio.

thank u so much panky5 for your info on nokia n80. i guess i'm gona with the sony-ericsson then.

Can anyone confirm whether TomTom Mobile 5 or Route 66 will run on the N80?

I am thinking of getting one but would ideally like to use my Sat Nav software on it too.

Andy

Route 66 is now available.

The BL6-C battery doesn't fit very well - maybe you can squeeze it in, but not easily.

Since the Nokia N80 has similar connectivity, I would expect the N80 to work in Korea & Japan as well. Can someone help verify this please?

Hi, ZAF,
I had to travel in Korea few times within a year as some of my european colleagues. I am renting a CDMA phones which with my SIM card I can roam on SK telecom. All my colleagues are using 3G phones (UMTS) like Nokia (N73) or Samsung brand. My colleagues can not used their 3G phones.

After reviewing gsmworld .com website, there are 3G 2100 in Korea. The key point in using 3G 2100 phones in korea is the possibility of roaming on both available networks in Korea. But this feature is not the phone is your network supplier. It depends on the agreement with Korean suppliers.
According to gsmworld.com, both Korean networks have little agreements with foreign Networks.
For Japan, Docomo has wider roaming agreements. So, if your networks supplier has an agreement and you are using a 3G 2100 phones, it should work.
From my side, I am willing to go for CDMA/GSM phones as Samsung W579 which works with CDMA 1x 800 or 1900. These bands are used in Korea, Japan and US. I believe from my previous experience in Korea with CDMA phones, that I can roam on this network (SK telecom).

Hope my inputs can help!!

is the nokia N80a very good phone???? (cause i may buy one)

i recentely bought one nokia n80.
