date/time problem

Well, a soft reboot does not fix the problem... Didn't think that it would, but it was worth a try. :-?

I'm going to contact Nokia on Monday, we'll see what happens.

BTW: I haven't done much development on the communicator other than a little Java. Now that I finally found the time to reinstall an old corrupt win98 partition, I am going to dabble with some OPL and C++. It seems very possible that a program could be created to listen for a reboot and save the date\time information and repopulate it on startup. Any programmers have any comments on whether that's feasible or not before I get my hopes up? Thanks 😃

Alright, Nokia to the rescue! I called and they pre-shipped me a new communicator that does not have the date/time problem. I am very glad and pleased with Nokia customer service. 😃

Although, I am not completely sure if I am supposed to keep this pre-shipped phone or they are sending me my old phone when it is fixed... They haven't got back to me yet.

Thanks for the suggestions all.

It's a bug in the hardware and needs to be replaced by Nokia for free if under warranty.

Nokia sent me a refurbished phone even though the packing slip said nothing about it being refurbished. The packing slip said 'Your phone has been replaced' or something. I found out that it was refurbished when I called Nokia afterwards.

Unfortunately I've had some problems with the 'replacement' phone that Nokia sent me. A screw fell out of the back and I didn't put it at high priority because there is another screw... After a week or so the screen door started to leave the hinge with the missing screw. Not a big deal because the hinge easily went back in place every time and I thought that would be the worst of it. I figured I'd go to the hardware store and find a similar screw. Before I got to the hardware store I opened it and heard a "crunch" near the hinge with the missing screw and the screen image looked like it shifted to the right and left half of it was visible and the other half of the screen was black with grey horizontal lines/bars.

Right now I'm using a stupid little motorola that stores one number per name... But it has a dumb camera with crappy almost worthless pixelation and no flash! And I have the backup 9290 taped shut because you can still use the phone part if you squeeze the phone a little to the right to get to the left side of the number pad. Oh yeah, and the infrared cover busted off as well because it's near the screw.

Too late for a warranty repair (30 days on a replacement), Nokia told me about $100-140 USD when it was only the screen issue. Oh yeah and they would not send me the screw and it wasn't available at any stores here in the US. They wanted me to send the phone in for a stupid screw and it's the only phone I have.... After using this motorola I'm thinking about getting the 9290 fixed.

Replace those screws on the back right away. 😉
