I've been using my 9210 since i bought it in february 2002, but the strangest thing happened to me. Until june the time and date worked fine, but since june 1st it keeps on shooting back to that date! 😛uppydogeyes: So every now and then when I open the Agenda its on june 1st. This also resultis in the poor functioning of the alarm, it never rings because it has 5 months to go....
It's easy solved, just reboot hte machine and set the date/time to the propper settings. On a good day I only have to do it once... :-?
I never hear people with the same problem here, has anyone had these problems? Would an firmware upgrade from 3.62 to 4.13 solve this problem?
Thanks!
date/time problem
...probably uprading to 4.13 would be a very good move!! 😉 Did you check in the time/clock menu that you haven't activated the summer time or the winter time mode (i don't know the exact terms because i use it in italian)? There is a setting that makes your clock turn back depending on the time of year it is. If you really don't understand my words i'll turn my 9210 in english and give you the correct path!!!!!! 😃

Well i'm not pretty sure about that but upgrading to 4.13 sure does fixed many problems... it's about time for an upgrade dude!!!

I've been playing with that, but it doesn't seem to solve the problem!
Probably a firmwareupgrade anr/or a system format will solve it!
Go for it! 😉 As far as I know it could be the best thing! But I think that the up-grade will do it 8) ...keep us informed! 😃
Upgrade is Ok, but can cost you some money (max 50USD) or for free if the phone is still in warranty 😃
In fact I am also facing the same prob with the time. It getting slower in spite of upgraded to 4.13. Give up!
Hi All,
I have been facing similar problem for 3 days now. Everytime the 9210 gets rebooted, the date will be reset back to 6th Dec 2002. The time runs fine though...
Mine is already on v4.13... any suggestion?
I have got the same annoying problem since march 14th (resets at that date after each reboot). :x Been playing with summer and winter time, no results. . Format the whole thing, no result.
Firmware is 3.62, no shop ready to upgrade without 20 days leaving my commi to them
Could it be the old software version you have? :-? I read that some of you have still not upgraded...maybe it's worth a try!
Mine is returning to the 5/4/02 or 4/4/02 or 3/4/02. It always happen when I reboot. It doesn't have anything to do with the firmware because I have 4.13. Maybe some programme does this. I'm going to format it and find out. I never had this problem before 3/4/02 (of cource😊😊) and I have my phone since Sep 2001. I believe the firmware update was done early this year January or February.
I have upgraded to V 4.13 and the clock was gone completely - nokia
service tried to reinstall it - didn't work either, whenever I open the clock it says 'not found' . I have to set time/date in the control panel, but after a while it's back to some weird date.
Any Ideas ?
Weird... :-?
Dear All,
I am still faced with the problem of date/time being reset when I reboot my 9210 (v4.13) for about 2 months alrdy.
I have been really busy and unable to part with my 9210 for even a day which is required of by the Nokia service centre.
Anyone has tried sending to Nokia Service Centre and got fixed yet? If so, what's the exact problem and what exactly did they fix?
Thanks a million!
Due to family circumstances I've been away for two months, but still haven't solved the date/time problem.
I'll be formatting the device first, when it doesn't work an firmware upgrade is my next best try. I'll keep you inforomed on my proceedings.
after (automatic) rebooting about 5 times today, my date/time is on jan 01 2001 and time on 2:00 am....
I'm getting a little tired of my main toy....
Go for it 😉
All,
I talked to an authorised Nokia service centre and they told me that it might be the CMOS problem on the mainboard. Or may be the built-in battery has been depleted.
Logically, when we get CMOS or battery problem on our computers, both the date & time are reset. In my 9210, only the date is reset. The time still runs fine?! Strange isn't it?
Well, I just bought a 2 month old 9210i (yes, couldn't resist) and just transferred all 9210 data to it and started using today.
I will send my 9210 to the Nokia service centre and let them have an deep diagnostic of what could have been wrong.
Will keep all those plague by this problem posted here.
I'm curious to know what they say...
Has anyone solved this problem yet?
No,I was hoping to hear the results that nokia said to the people that took their 9210 to nsp...
Hi All,
Sorry guys! Since I have moved to the new 9210i, I somehow have neglected the problem faced with my old 9210 abt the date/time problem.
YES! The Nokia Service Centre confirmed that my 9210 has developed a faulty FLASH chip that needed a circuit board to be changed. That's why my date is always reset when the battery is taken out. They quoted me ~USD110 which I readily declined.
Guess I will put the old 9210 in my drawer for good. RIP!
Same problem here, 9290, date only, reset to 4/19 every time I remove the battery 😞
WOW, this really stinks! Now my calendar is practically useless because I am always rebooting and installing stuff... Seems like Nokia should replace this for free, as it's their fault! Oh well, I guess you get burned sometimes.
Hey, this is a forum of developers, somebody make a program that saves the date before a reboot and puts it back in after... I'd do it if I had time 😞

Did you ask for a replacement?
No! I did not.
In my case, the Nokia Service Centre said it's not covered since it's out of warranty.
You don't have to remove the battery to reboot. There are several utilities that will do it. The latest (also free I think) is Reboot - see..
I use restart and it's nice...
Is it similar?
Thanks for the tip, I'll try the reboot stuff, but who knows if the problem stems from merely rebooting or physically removing the battery. If it's related to the reboot, then that will not solve the problem... I'll post my results here when done.
I haven't tried talking with Nokia yet, I've had it for about 8 months, so it might be under warranty. I guess we'll see what happens...
😉
If your set is under warranty, you should get it changed.
Rebooting with a software is just a workaround, & I believe the problem is a hardware problem.
Other related problems with the date reset is your system log. Since all your received/missed/dialed calls&sms now has a wrong date stamped, they will not appear in the order as they should.
Better change the hardware under warranty as my case is not so lucky.
