I've had a few people comment on the forum being sluggish in the last few months. I've been implementing some server tweaks and changes and would like some feedback on whether people are noticing any difference.
This applies to both the content pages and the forum. So please reply to this thread letting us know if there's been an improvement for you (or not).
Feel free to add in other feedback too!

Not noticed any "server too busy" errors in past week or so, i was getting a lot before that.

I saw the title of this thread from the main Series 60 Forum list about 10 minutes ago and thought I'd post, and ironically I couldnt get into the N70 forum because the server was too busy!

Hmm that's not good. I'll keep on it. Inevitably there may still be isloated instances. If anyone else sees these please let me know.
Ive had them in two spells this evening, once as mentioned in the post above, and one about 20 mins later
I had server busy messages all morning, was ok aftermoon
server busy messages here, too, an hour ago, or so. seems to be OK now.
Thanks everyone - reports apprciated. I'm still fiddling (little outside my area of expertise) so there may be occasional problems. Of course there only so much that can be done.

I'm also getting server busy messages quite a lot (especially in the afternoon here in China - which is between 4 and 8 AM GMT). Sometimes it looks like the board is flooded completely - someone trying a DOS-attack?.
I did notice that when the busy messages do not appear, overall the board display and opening posts is a lot quicker. About a month ago, I sometimes had to wait for a minute or more until a post was displayed. This has been reduced to about 10 seconds now.
some times i open a thread and the thread doesnt actually appear just the threat title & no posts
There are occasionally the odd "server busy" message, but then again, the server does have a lot to cope with 😊
I had a problem that when I reported some spam a little while ago, Everything switched to the N-Gage Froum,
Only way to clear it was to delete all cookies,
Last time I report any spam?
I also get 'Server Busy' now and then, Which then marks all threads as read, 😞

I've done some further optmisations which should avoid problems at all but the busiest times.

Was "the busiest times" a few minutes ago? For a few minutes I got the server busy messages, again.
Yes - that was probably a backup script running for a few minutes. I'm trying to optimise thsese to. Though some server spikes are unavoidable at the present time 😞

Same for me,except for the N70 bit.........my one is fast as f***!
Its not usually sluggish for me, its just the server busy messages which I probably get 20-30% of the time when visiting. Its especially annoying when you write a long reply to a message, click Submit and it gives a server busy message and to rub it in IE loses everything I typed too 😡 :tongue:
