Try a hard reset which will delete everything and return it to its original factory state. When the phone starts up type *#7330# .

Phone won't actually boot up enough to let me enter the code (tried this when it first wouldn't restart.... it just gets to the first nokia start up logo and then flickers rather lamely....

phone call to orange i guess 😞

2 thoughts spring to my mind:

1/ either i have installed some software which is causing it to malfunction

2/ it is a battery problem

if it's 1 and therefore possible to "break" 7650 by installing software, surely it would be sensible for the phone to have a factory reset switch to use in this event rather than having to take it back to NSC? (maybe there is one hidden somewhere????)

oh well...

your next best bet is to take it to your local NSC. if you have a warranty and a bit of luck, they might replace your phone. if you feel it could be a batt problem, why dont you use an alternate batt and see if it works, its just a standard batt anyway.

I used to have a smiliar problem, it won't start just light flashing then it goes off, it turned out i had an empty battery!

But since you can't charge your phone at all, you should... RUN TO THE NSC! Run like the wind!!!!

(GO! what are you doing here reading this post??!?!?!)

Before you go anywhere plug it in on charge and leave it for an hour or so. Then attempt to turn it on again. Mine did exactly the same thing you're describing on Sunday afternoon. I think it was related to me having set ActiveDesk as a start up application/flat battery. (it was showing 4 bars before it turn off but put the battery into another 7650 and it did the same thing.

thanks for all suggestions! Here is what I have done so far:

1/ Tried fully charged battery from 8210 - same fault (hence prob not a battery issue)

2/ Currently got it on charge as reccommended by omar_g (quick question though omar - did yours show the charging monitor)

3/ Phoned Orange Care and they will send me a replacement tommorrow...... (when they put the symptoms into their fault diagnosis system it just came up with "faulty -offer customer replacemnet phone".....)

I would be really interested to know what has caused this though.... esp if it is software realted (ie third party software...... like Omars Active Desk thing) ...... also is the phone faulty or does it just need a factory reset???? What do people think Will try and find out more info from Orange after they have had it back....

Anyway, back to my 6210 for the time being - which keeps switching itself off..... (at least that is a known fault!)

thanks again for suggestions

If it has been replaced under Orange care (Insurance) they won't be able to tell you what the problem was. It gets sent to their technical dept who reflash it, fit new housing and use it as an insurance replacment. There are no diagnostics done on their returns unless it's identified as a reoccuring fault. Silly really but thats the way it goes.

Mine did show the charging symbol but only after about 30 minutes. I think yours is unrecoverable from what you've said. 😞

ah well.... such is life..... would be nice to know what made it go wrong (mainly to avoid same thing again!)

am still hopefully waiting for the charging symbol to appear but i reckon i have to agree with you!

am so glad I got bluetooth and PC Suite working at the weekend - this means that my last backup was only the day before the phone went down - hurray!

cheers

Your timing is impeccable! 😃

Orange care is very good. When my Motorola V66 decided that the bottom row of keys shouldn't work anymore, Orange had a new one on my doorstep by 9am the next day, and I reported on a Sunday evening!

Well worth the extra 5 a month to any 'Your Plan' customers.

yep.... am quite impressed by orange care so far.... better than the carphone warehouse (non) care plan that i had before......

backup timimg was pure fluke! usually terrible at backups and end up have to do all sorts of bizairee data recovery when something does go wrong.... think it was the novelty of having working usb bluetooth/pc suite combo that made me do it!!!!

😃

Orange care have just delivered me a lovely new 7650 - excellent service .... so i guess i will be testing the restore facilty of PC suite tonight - hurrah!

very glad for you, brother! 😃

I've had exactly the same problem...

I was using my phone and battery was going down. I plugged it in and it just said on screen "Not Charging!" so I unplugged and plugged back in. Still same thing. Again and again.

So anyway, I left it plugged in and coz I was in a call, the battery ran out and I obviously got cut off. Anyway, when I tried to turn it back on I got to the pin code bit, then the security code bit... then it just turned off again.

I unplugged the charger, plugged in back in, and in a few seconds then phone came up with the nokia logo, lit up and then made a decending beeping sound like the sound it makes when its running out of battery.

Then the battery icon comes up but the screen then turns off and... here's the really wierd bit... it carries on doing this in a loop for as long as the charger is turned on! Logo comes up, icon comes up, makes sound, turns off again and again!

I have tried a different battery direct from vodafone and its all the same.

I got so annoyed I almost threw it against the wall! I've got 3.12 not 3.16 so it may not be the software version.

OK, so other things I have tried...

1: I can actually get the phone to turn on for a few seconds like this:
Hold down the power button with the charger disconnected.
As soon as the screen lights up, plug in the charger. (if I dont plug it in, the screen turns off again).
This seems to sustain the phones dead battery but only until you enter the pin and security code, then the phone goes dead again, probably because the phone uses more power to log onto the network.

2: Without the sim card, the phone will still do the same loop thing but when you use the method above to turn on the phone, it just says insert sim card. (Dur) lol.

3: I have actually had this problem before AND got the phone to work again, but I was drunk when I did it and have no recollection as to how I managed it. But I do remember turning the phone on and taking the battery out and putting it in again afterward... hehe. Coz I cant remember exactly it's hard to say.

Oh well, if anyone else has any insight into this little prob i'm all ears. By the way, I do have it on standard warranty as I've only had it 3 weeks. Will get it replaced by vodafone soon if I cant get it to work at all.

If I manage to make it work, I'll be sure to update this thread. Anyone else had this problem?

Rob

yea i got the same problem!

i let the battery die then tried to charge but nothing happend

the logo appears flashes and disappears does that a few times

i charged the battery in another fone and tried again but same thing!

yes it happens ones to me too...
But i think,it is a SW-conflict of phone.
cause in my case, the popup: batterie charge not!!
was there one day,but i simply remove it,and put another one in my 7650.
so it works again, even if i put back the old one...

The trouble with the on and of maybe will happen, because the SW-conflict was already exist, and so the phone can not charge anymore, and without power not boot up also.

Maybe try another full batterie of a friends phone?

then it could dissapear...

For this reason, know i use the desktop-charger,what is looking good, and fits my phones power for my daily calls...

good luck Smi

yea tried batterry from another fone, same thing

will take to service centre tomrorow

go out and :agrue: those :bday: in NSC !!!

its really sad...

dont :microwave: them, better too put them a :2gunfire: on their :shocked!: so they do not  any longer...

MTFBWU

Smi

they couldnt fix it!! said they have to send to headoffice to do and will take 2 weeeeeeeeeeks!!!!!

OK. Here's one more addition to the greiving club 😞 😞
The same thing is happening to my phone too for the past 15 min. I have tried another battery from 8250, and battery level almost full.
The wait for a fix at the NSC (and the frustration associated) is going to be

hmmm. wonder what causes this problem then as a few of us seem to have had it...

any thoeries?

my only theorie is,that it is some kind of a special configuration of different things how all come together.
Maybe a incomming MMs and put on the charger at the same time?

i dont know it,but i could fix it,with replace the batterie with another one.

somebody else could do it the same way?

Until now,my one is ok again, but always i put it on my deskt-charger,im a small bit nervous,if again the popup:no charging comes up.

Smi

I have used a fully charged battery (just to make sure) No Difference. So that can be ruled out. 😞
None of my aquaintances have MMS. So That is also ruled out.
I had also stood the phone without battery for almost 8 hrs ( while charging it in 8250 ).

Will have to go to NSC tomorrow😞 Wonder how long its going to be 😞 )

And yes.. I forgot, the BT was on when it shutdown. I'm mentioning this as it normally turns the BT on after rebooting. Hope this is not one of the reasons?

😮 😮

2 days ago after i installed some apps and then my memory is around 600kb left then i restart the phone to change a logo with seleq

then the Nokia logo is just appeared and not change for bout 8 secs or so

suddenly the Contact retailer text is appeared WTF and i took off the batt cos cannot turn it off

but then after that i can boot it up again and until now no problem at all

strange
