Grid keeps getting weirder and weirder.
Hmmm, when I set my preferences my 9500 is now shown as runner-up, but I don't want an MS mobile. I want Symbian for lots of reasons:
> Robustness/stability
>> Almost never needs to reboot
>> Crashing programs don't spoil it for the rest
> Speed (when apps are open switching is instantaneous)
> OPL 😊
I still like the comparison chart though. It gives a good overview of what the different pda/smartphones are capable of. Maybe MS compatibility could be added to the list and a weighing factor (select the 5 most important factors and make them count twice)...
Wierder? In what way?
The grid is just a weightings table. And it's not rigged pro-Symbian in any way. When I put in my own prefs, it gives me the N70 as winner....

The 6630 is ok, but it's lack of internal memory is a major limiting factor, making some simple tasks very time consuming (if not impossible) to carry out.
It's only in the N70 that Nokia finally addressed this problem.

What tasks did you have in mind? My 6630 starts with 9MB free RAM and this is enough for everything, without shutting anything down, ever. Apart from TomTom MOBILE 5, which needs 6.5MB all to itself! 8-)

With drivers and fonts loaded, my 6630 only starts up with about 6 MB. Symbian OS 7+ allows multiple apps to share a single data connection, so it would've been nice if I could be running Agile Messenger, then open up Opera to check on something. Or use an RSS reader, and click on a link to read the full article.
Speaking of 6630, the ThinkOutside Bluetooth keyboard isn't fully functional on the 6630.
As a owner of almost every recent MS Mobile made and current owner of SE P910, N 9500, N 9300 and now a N 9300i - the symbian world is not so bad.
Not many MS mobile phones with full width screen access - with the new citrix client I can access almost any legacy or host system. A rock solid BlackBerry Connect client for corporate emai access (with attachments) in addition to an integrated POP client personal mai access.
Also, the ability to send and recieve quality faxes is not too bad. In addition, the battery life is quite good and the N 9300i has EDGE, full BT stack and Wifi access. I'm still looking for an alternative to my N 9300i. (Yes, it can be a bit slow from time to time). FLG

I'm staggered by all of this. A 6630 SHOULD have another 3MB of so free. Mine is Vodafone-locked and they (thankfully) don't add lots of unwanted auto-start extras. You say 'drivers and fonts'. What do you mean? Symbian OS already includes all the drivers and fonts you need, surely? 6MB free? No wonder you're running into problems!!!
On my 6630, I can do RSS and Opera and Calendar and Contacts and much more, all without anything closing down.
And the Think Outside Bluetooth keyboard works PERFECTLY on the 6630. I use it almost every day.

The weridness from the grid (for me) is simply a single missing option.
Apparently, a T-Mobile MDA Vario is apparently the best suited to me (joint winner with my 9500) dispite the fact that a) I would never use T-Mobile again (admitably ou can't weight that) and b) its based on a dodgy OS from some wannabeinmobile company from Seattle, which suffers from an immediate -200 points in my mind (giving it a nice, and imho, accruate 3...). Are you sure that you have the correct numbers in some of the columns? the Vario has a 7 in software stability, that can't be right surely? 😉

Microsoft have done a lot in getting to Windows Mobile 5, the core OS is now pretty stable, even if it isn't as good as Symbian OS. The MDA Vario I tried for a while (for review) was pretty stable and I was rather impressed all round. On the other hand, the Orange M5000 was shoddy and unfinished. A lot depends on the manufacturers/operators!

I suspect this is the root cause of the problem. Anybody else reading this? My two 6630s, one unlocked, one Vodafone, both English, have 8.9MB free after booting.
Can you reboot yours now, run *nothing* but TaskSpy, don't let anything third party auto-start, and tell us how much RAM is free?
