maharaja_sunny wrote:Hi,I tried installing the mp3 codec and also saved mp3 file in the original sound folder of the MMC, but neither of them worked.
Pls help me so that i can set mp3 as ringtone on my nokia 6600.
Also pls let me knw the codec name so that i can reinstall it & try again.
thanks
dude u must make sure ur mp3 is 128kbps & 44.1 khz for the codec to recognize it, otherwise it will say unrecognize file etc...
note: ur right in putting it on the mmc's sound folder, i think the part u got it wrong is the bitrate fix that and it will work like a charm.
i use mp3 cutter to cut my mp3's to that the only desired part will be use as tone for my n6600, then i use Advance WMA workshop to change the bitrate(kbps & khz) and it works fine i can use my mp3's a tones, it can be viewed n recognize on wen u personalize ur profile to change tones.

Hi all,
First of all thanks to cherr for the application...Works fine 4 me :icon14:
Maybe these are a few tips 4 those who r having trouble..
1. IGNORE the warning it may not be compatible, just install it. No icon will appear since it's a codec.
2. If u have an mp3 player in u'r phone e.g. ultramp3, UNINSTALL IT FIRST. Mine had an ultramp3 and the files aren't recognized as a ringtone. After I uninstalled it, the mp3 ringtones worked fine. I don't know if u'r using wmaplayer. I didn't install the player again, hence I have a mini mp3 player to listen from. 😎
As cherr said, the files have to be 128kbps 44khz, there are a lot of music converters programs. I cut my ringtones, taking only the intro or reff, saves space.
I hope these tips are useful...
From Jogja to the World
Thanks for this application. I've installed the software and it works fine. I only have a few concerns though which i hope anyone here can help. Some of the mp3 files i upload to my phone doesn't work, especially the mp3's i make myself using db power amp. It says "file not supported" even if i followed the instructions given about the bitrates, etc. But there are some mp3 files that i get from my friend's phone that works. How is this so? My hunch is that there may be something wrong with the way i convert/create mp3. Can someone teach me how? Plus, the volume of the mp3's i create are so low that one can barely hear the tone. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance and more power to you guys. One last thing, maybe someone can email me a full version of joy ringtone converter. My email is
thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx alot
cherr wrote:because there were demanding mail to urged me to post the solution here...so i will give u all the solution...check it out....1. u need the mp3 codec that i will give to u...u have to install the codec on ur phone
2. Important!!!!....the mp3 file must be save in joint stereo 128 bits 44.1Khz...u can make it using the Db power amp converter..if u dont have the converter, email me...i cant post it here because the file is big even in zip format..cant pass the max limit...sorry for the hustle...
3. How's the phone gonna accept the file...😎 ..it simple...the phone will accept the file when it has id3v2 tag....u can set it by using media player like winamp....just import the file to winamp playlist..right click and choose 'view file info'...
4. Now its ready...one more thing...u have to save the mp3 file in the original sound folder on ur memory card...done...
5. Plz give comment and any sugestion...this is my first post...i really hope that i can help u all....

Hey Great man Its really working out even with 16 KBPS Songs
hello there.....
i've instaled mp3_as_ringtone.sis on my nokia 6600 like a month ago....installed it on my mmc, didn't work->could not see the mp3...didn't uninstalled it....
1. if you first installed a mp3 player and after that the mp3 codec, try uninstling the player.....might just work(as cahbagus says in a prewious reply).i didnt try it.
2. i've formatted my 6600 using 3+*+green dials...,deleted everything in my phone(saved everything before doing the format)..and I realised that now i can see the mp3 in the profiles menu and set them as ringtones.it worked for me it showld work for you too.
:icon4: BE CAREFULL...read the thread about formating the phone before doing it.:icon4:
not responsable for what happens if you dont do it wright.
hope i helped(sorry for my english...)😉
Dude, thanks for post, have looking around for a solution for a year. Now thanks to u, i finally have mp3 ringtones.
