My oppinion:
Everything that isn't for sale anymore will not harm anyone when they are shared.

All shares of media not resolving around symbian should be allowed here.

Talking about the virtua girls ...
If we ban them, we'll have to ban every sound clip, every foto, image ... we have to get some rules...

I agree in the statement: "we have to protect the symbian developers because they trust us and because they are mostly hobby programmers or very small companies who try their best to give us a good program"

But we can't start banning everything ... people share, that's the fun.
Will you ban my XP background because I stole it from Microsoft ...

btw: i'm not accusing or attacking anyone 😊 Just think some clear guideliness will help everyone. 😊

What about the .jar and .jad games? Where do these fall? They come by price but from different operators, and not anyone could get a specific game.. Should those be shared?

😊 Hmmm... i smell c64... can u smell it?? or is it a C4 burning under the seat of my car??? arrrggghhhh... i'm outta here...

I think there are 3 groups of people we need to protect:
1) the symbian developers
2) the moderators (no-one wants to be a bad guy)
3) the users

My proposals:
a) 1 person takes care of all the warez deletion and judging
b) better rules involving warez so everyone knows 100% certain what he can and should do.
c) When in doubt about any subject, let it be, and post a poll on the admin forum which runs for a day. After that day you can delete and say "The admin team judge this topic to be deleted". First moving it here and then re-moving it would look silly.

These are just my ideas ... pls someone give their comments 😊

We could just say that no apps are to be posted, you shuld link to TRIAL or DEMO applications only. This would aply to everyone, keep down the questions, humming and hawing, and preserve bandwith.

It's also really easy to understand, and users who appreciate the warez problem should be able to link wih no hassles.

OK I'm going to reply quickly here because I am really really busy (its why I've been a bit quiet the past few days).

1. If something can be bought under no cicrumstance is to be posted or linked to on the forums. Even if not everyone can by (e.g. the aforementioned .jar's)

2. Freeware or trial programs should only be posted if they are not available elsewhere, if available elsewhere link to them.

3. I will put in place a system which e-mails / PM's the people the forum rules on joining. Additionally a summary will be placed at the bottom on reply and new topic pages linking to a full version.

I agree the rules should be set and clear. I think all the admins should know them and know how to act. I would accept sometimes it is difficult to judge and in that case they should go to some adjudicator (senior admin tema?).

More later

Rafe

Thumbs up on this lot Rafe. Don't see anyproblems with this, and I think this is pretty enforceable and easy to manage when we're browsing the forums.

Right if no one has any objection I'll get something based on this up tonight / this weekend... Then I'll e-mail all mods with some guidelines for practise as well as posting here.

Rafe

Perfect 😊
So in the future ... we come here ask if things are still for sale ...
and then we delete or leave it? 😊

I'm still thinking about things no longer for sale.

In the case of say C64 games (the only thing this applies to that I can think of) I think linking at the very most and prefable probably not that.

Will think a little more, but no very little about this.

I got an email from this user (i see mentioning his name okay here, as you guys can warn him or something)

That user is "calizano" and he asked me for cracks!

I replied that this is his first warning and that people that ask for cracks on this site will get a warning then be banned.

Just wanted to tell you Rafe, it's still goin on, it won't stop, just put him on your list of "warned" people.
