Hello people,

New to the board and will be buying an N80 hopefully soon.

Just wanted to know if the nokia N80 has the feature like samsung and motorola where you can have a pin request for gallery, messages, call log etc?

Thanks
Akmal

From the N80 user guide:

"PIN2 code - This code (4 to 8 digits) is supplied with some SIM cards, and is required to access some functions in your device.

Lock code (also known as security code) - This code (5 digits) can be used to lock the device to avoid unauthorized use. The factory setting for the lock code is 12345. To avoid unauthorized use of your device, change the lock code. Keep the new code secret and in a safe place separate from your device. If you forget the code, contact your service provider"

So is the PIN2 code or the lock code it??

Hi Akmal,

Your talking about the lock code, this will either lock your phone when you are on standby or if you where to change the sim card on your phone.

Locking your phone in standby can be done through the settings menu, beleive you can also do this by pressing the on/off button and it should be the last option on the menu.

Hope this helps

JB

Thanks for the reply. So there's no way of locking gallery or messaging? Oh well...

Well the phone has arrived and its on charge 😊 cant wait to use it!

As with most things, if the phone does not support it natively, there will probably be a 3rd party app that will give you what you're looking for. Although some apps need to be tweaked for the new S60 UI I can't imagine it being long before most popular apps are compatible. There are third party apps that allow you to 'lock down' messaging, gallery, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I have had a look at the N80 user guide and it isnt mentioned anywhere where you can do what im looking for. Will now look for those 3rd party apps. Thanks agn.
