7650 loose

I bought it in the beginning of August. Its two parts soon became a bit loose, when it was open at first, then even when closed. I took it to Nokia Service in September and was told that it was due to bad handling (!!!!) and that the "rail" would have to be replaced but they had no spare parts at the time. So I waited.
I took it there again a couple of days ago, without mentioning anything about the previous visit. They said it was due to bad handling again, and that the whole "back cover" would have to be replaced !!! 😮 (Should I take it there again? This time they might want to replace the whole phone!! 😃 ) Of course they had no spare parts again, they said it is a new phone and it is too early to have spare parts (4 months after I bought it, Jesus !!!!).

What do you suggest. Has anyone opened it? Do you have a clue what it might be? I am thinking of opening it myself to see if I can do somenthing. I don't trust them much after this. And the movement between the parts is quite annoying..

It is just wear and tear of the phone, nothing to worry about (If a little annoying)

When I first got my 8890, I couldn't even slide the cover down it was that stiff, but after a good few goes, it gets better.

But then after about 6 months it was loose, the only thing you can do is put new rails on.

it's good that we have good NSC here in zurich! well maybe becuz one of my friends is working there! but maybe not, who knows? i had the same prob as you petran, but don't worry bring it there tell them to make it express! and do some complainig it works all the time! 😃

NSCs in Greece offer very low quality of service  . I also know a person who worked in Thessaloniki NSC and he says the same.
I wonder, is there any way to make an official report to "mother" Nokia for this situation, or they will put it in trash?

I wouldn't say it's "wear and tear of the phone", J2theIZZO. It started happening almost right away. I've seen a lot of 7650's, some even older than mine, an none is as loose as this. The point is I'm not sure they know how to fix it, they suggested replacing different parts the two times I took it to them! And they still haven't got any spare parts since it was released. I suspect that it can be fixed without replacing anything, that's why I asked if anyone has opened, it to figure out what might cause it. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Yes sigmacom, in Greece the quality of service is bad indeed. It was A LOT worse a couple of years ago, though. I remember people waiting for weeks even for a simple upgrade then, others shouting and having big arguments with the people at NCS due to the unbelievably bad service. A lot of people have turned to other manufacturers because of that. And a lot of complaints have been made to mother Nokia since those days. The latter seems to ignore them, though, as the distribution and service of NMP in Greece is still handled by the same company (Alpha Copy). Although it has made certain improvement, the service is still less than expected.

Nokia 7650s aren't very good at keeping a high quality level if you ask me. My first Nokia 7650 made ANNOYING sounds when you pressed the keypad and joystick... and it was a bit loose here and there. I returned it and got a new one after two unbearable weeks... this one worked fine for a day. Second day, various parts are loose. But I'm guessing that this is 'by nature', cause it can't be a coinsidence that two phones show the same 'errors'... and hell, as long as it wont kill ya.. why bother fixing it? :P

Well, PRLYago-, if you pay 680 cash for a new phone, you expect it at least to function properly without annoying sounds and movements. If it had been offered to me at a lower price due to this, then it would be my decision to accept it or not. Do you also settle for flaws in your expensive clothing or any other things you buy? I guess not..

Yeah I agree with you man. I payed alot for my phone and i got really pissed when it got a loose, but it was my fault though, it fell twice on solid ground. But in my condition I can't fix it here, we don't have 7650's 😃

But you obviously need to fix yours, but if you must open it be careful!! You don't want to screw up then you end up with a faulty 7650 instead of a faulty rail..

i have that problem also, and i emailed central nokia asking the potuguese nokia contacts...

i didn't even get an answer...

It's a shame that the market leader acts like this to their customers....
