GazP, I got my N80 from Wigan in Lancashire they got new stock this morning but ran out within 2 hours of getting them in.
With regards to flashing the phone my dealings with o2 the past 5years is when using the O2 Store if you to take your phone back to them and they send it for repair and also put on lastest firmware and then send it back to you unless the phone can't be fixed then you get a new one had a problem with my 6680
Now with O2 online its a different story you ring customer services saying there the phone is working and they give you an address to send the phone to one o2 get your phone they send a new one (they say refurb phone sometimes) out for next day, they will charge you if there is any other damage that isnt wear and tear, i.e. you droped it in the sink etc etc
hope that makes it a bit clear of o2 repair systems i know it isnt part of firmware but it gives you a understanding of how the two O2 companies work
Cheers
And sorry about the firmware version on my previous post i put a 7 instead of 6
Hey guys, where there are 2 numbers in brackets at the end of the firmware code this refers to operator specific firmware as opposed to generic languague specific Nokia firmware. (I think 42.01 is Vodafone and 33.01 is O2)
:con? 😡 :frown: :banghead: 😕 :dontknow: 😡
i've just spent effing ages downloading and installing all the necessary, stumbling at the crack stage (didn't know you needed the reflexes of a cobra) then having to re download phoenix 2006 about 7 times to get the full 90mb. successfully upgraded to 2006, yes, yes ,yes i thought.
didn't rush anything, do it right, i thought, be careful.
followed instructions and it came up with an error saying the ppm file should be 2002 or later(or something similar)as it couldn't tell, flash anyway? YES! flash for all your worth.
error flash failed server threw an exception or something, (its all french to me)
then tried a few more times, tried v08 instead of v02 still no joy.
sod throwing an exception, nearly threw my laptop.:argh: :argh: :bawling:
I'm sorry to spoil everyone's flashing fun, but the distribution of copyrighted flash files is against the rules. The discussion ends here.
