Are there any differences between the new 7650 on Vodafone Live (UK) and the older 7650's. Is there any special software on the phone? If so is it possible to download this to older phones?
Basically I can get a 7650 from an online retailer for a lot less than thwe Vodafone shops but I'm not sure I'll be able to get full access to all the Vodafone live stuff.
Any help would be much appreciated
I've noticed that it has a Red colour profile. Not the Purple one we have but a red, proper red as in RGB(255,0,0) red!
I have a normal 7650 and i have everything that a 7650 Vodafone Live haves except "Red colour profile" ... And here in Portugal in the NSC, by paying 10, they'll put a normal 7650 like a Vodafone Live Vesion, including the Red colour profile.. but i think it's too money...
I'm not too sure what a red colour profile is? I assume it has absolutely nothing to do with how the phone works and is purely aesthetical?
So all the Vodafone messenger, mail, download sections etc are all accessible through WAP. No special software needed?
cheers,
Tom
no,there are only special config.to the wap-gateway of Vodaphone.
and the pink Theme is no a red one.
In the favorites, there are some links to Vodoophone-live-plattform(wap)
but the ugly thing it will be,they can not be delete...
Thats all, something more it was not write down from users in the germany-board: www.telefon-treff.de

Vodafone are in the process of deactivating the IrDa port on the 7650's branded by Vodafone live.
This has already been done on the GX10 and GD87.
I bought a GX-10 today an it really is fantastic! 😃
De-activating the IR port on a phone with no physical connecting lead?
Are they crazy or something?
The GX-10's data cable has also been deactivated. They still sell it for 45 though!
You can use Irda and cable to use the phone's as modems but that is the limit of their connectivity. It makes sound business sense. The only way to get ringtones or java applications is via their "LIVE!" service at up to 5 a go.
Can't email email them as attachments are removed by their email system. The ony problem is that the camera is suitable for MMS and MMS only. Can't even upload the pics to a PC for storage which is a serious omission.
Deactivating the InfraRed port is disgraceful behaviour  and we should make an effort to make sure people know about this before they purchase a butchered 7650!
I find it hard to believe that Vodafone would do something so downright evil, cynical and dishonest! Surely, there should be a law against this? If the phone is advertised as having an InfraRed port and when they buy it they find it doesn't work, what are they going to do!?
This is making me very angry indeed! Whatever happened to consumer rights!?
Someone should get onto their case about this! Red profile or not, if this is what Vodafone Live is all about, it is about as friendly as Vodafone Dead and Vodafone suck!
They'll probably deactivate the memory card slot on the 3650 in case people transfer images and ringtones to their phones that way.
How can Nokia and Symbian allow this? Would Microsoft allow network operators to remove features from their phone(s)?
what? are they stupid or what? who the f--k would want to buy those
things? Thank god we dont have those kind of operators in finland.
those are seriously twisted business practices! 😮
Ehrm, are they allowed to do this? Because this is going to elad to two 'grades' of 7650 and I'm not sure Nokia Tech Support are gonna like this...
Omar_g, where did you get this information from?
I'm sure they can't do that at all!, and they may restrict data over GPRS, but that doesn't stop someone accessing a POP3/IMAP4 account through their ISP, unless they take data away too.
If they did do this then are they also taking BT out?
That would be too Blatant and Disgusting

I spoke to a Vodafone rep this afternoon who backed up what is being said on the What Mobile UK forums.
Modded 7650's arn't in shopss yet.
I'm sure they can't do that at all!
The GX-10 has already had the snip, the GD87 is rumoured to have had it done on the latest batches and the 7650 is still awaiting authorisation/distribution(?). There is no law against it, as long as it is not mis-advertised by the network, which Vodafone are (obviously) very careful about.
Before you all spit fire in the general direction of Vodafone, remeber that;
A) Nobody has seen a doctored 7650 yet, let alone been sold one.
B) It may be a simple case of re-enabling it via CS; Rumour has it that Vodafone are going to re-flash GX-10's to re-enable the IrDa if the current user complaints continue. (Vodafone Retail staff have been selling it on its merits, including IrDa which has annoyed a fair few customers).
For more information take a peek at the What Mobile Forums. You'll find plenty of comments on the subject there.
I've spoken with a Vodafone official and she said this rumour was complete bullcrap 😃
Hope you're right, but what I've found when dealing with companies is that the answer you get depends on the official you ask.
Will just have to wait 'til the phones hit the streets...

I agree, 95% of Vodafone people don't have a clue what they're talking about anyway.
