you know what i did?? wanna know?? i don't know if it's appropriate to write it down in here!

Shadow, so you got yours to work then?
you just installed the single version over?

what did you do?
(if it's appropriate to write it down here.........)
i installed the single language without removing the multi language 1st, the nokia suite installer will do the upgrading auto. By do this way, u wouldn't need to re-enter your license key. The app. manager do show 189k for seleq but when i use seleq to go to check c:\system\apps\systemexplorer space usage, it do show 195k used, its seems like no different bet the single and multi language on spaces, probably just a fix for the app. manager reporting correct usage of spaces. Maybe the way I'm installing it is wrong, should i remove seleq 1st and re-install the new seleq.
i uninstalled the multilingual, then i installed the single language version and it never asked me about my serial no.

555...
I did the same as you. I uninstalled the multi-language version, and then installed the new smaller version. Everything went fine, and it shows 189K space used. Hasn't asked me for a serial number, and seems to be registered already. Shades of Windows registry here?
Thanks Ximplify..much appreciated by all I'm sure.

Btw..for those that are gonna ask...to uninstall, goto Tools....Manager...and then select remove option on Seleq to remove the large version. Then just install the new one.

Chaos,

thanks .. yep, tried that. just uninstalled seleQ1.5, and installed the english version. 189K reported.

cool! thanks!

Hi

This is Patrick,

I think my email announcing availability of single language version of SeleQ caused some confusion. 😮ops: Sorry.

Anyway, I hope the following will answer your queries with regards to file sizes. So here goes:

1. There is a bug in N7650 Application Manager. The following is an extract from the Symbian Knowledge base:

There is a known defect in the current EPOC Application Installer component which is related to where language dependent files are the last entries in the .PKG file. The installer installs the correct file, but then leaves all of the other language variants of that file inside the stub .SIS file without deleting them.

What this means is that, the size of installed application will always differ from that reported in the Application Manager. This is because final installation ONLY has files pertaining to the one selected language. This also explains why the file size of INSTALLED application is the same regardless of whether it was derived from the single language or multilanguage variant.

Although INSTALLED application size is the same, we recommend installation using the single language version because:
a. SIS file is smaller
b. Installation process takes less memory
c. The problem reported in Symbian knowledge base is negated.

2. If want to reclaim space occupied by multilanguage files, you will need to first uninstall MultiL SeleQ and then install single language variant.

3. Final size of installed SeleQ will vary according to language. size of installed SeleQ will be the same regardless of whether you installed from multiL or single Language SeleQ which is approx 190K.

In conclusion, the only reason why you should reinstall using the single language version is so you can reclaim the memory used by the other languages. The more memory the merrier 😉
