Does GPRS drain your battery

9 replies · 2,355 views · Started 27 November 2002

Hey i just got gprs from O2 (NL). Does it drain the battery as much as if you were calling or doesn't it?

I hope someone knows thnx

I believe I've already mentioned it.. When using GRPS my 7650 with low battery level can turn itself off due to empty battery even while connected to the charger!! This means that GRPS drains the battery faster than the (fast) nokia charger can recharge it.

hav anyone notice that when GPRS is on sometimes the phone restart by itself

i think someone mentioned that it needs to register a new signal and then restart the phone

it's annoying sometimes

never experienced that the phone restarts itself! i have GPRS on all the time! but it never happened! maybe it's just me!

or maybe It's just me 😃

Mine sometimes restarts when using GPRS for sending/receiving MMS, too. And I know other people who are experiencing this. It's not just you.

Nope, never happened to me. And I use GPRS about 350Mb/month.
And that charging thing also never happened. always charges faster than
drains. :-? :-? :-?

JyriK, are you interested in swapping our 7650s ? 😃
Seriously, it might have to do with the MMS thing as it has never restarted when using GRPS for other purposes (email, wap etc).
As for the charger, if a couple of MMS arrive shortly after I start charging its almost empty battery, then it will turn off. I use the standard charger with the standard batery, of course.
