Stopped using it for this reason... yeah, still an issue.
N80 & Gps

Has anyone got the N80 working with GPS on the xx.0.6 firmware?
Yes, I've got my N80 working with the Navicore SiRFIII GPS receiver. Used it with ViewRanger. Initially there were problems with connections, namely finding the receiver and then actually connecting to the receiver, but tech support at ViewRanger rewrote some of the program's code after I sent in Log files (I was using an initial release of the program) and the problem got sorted.
So the N80 can use a GPS.

What version of firmware do you have?
Off the top of my head, I can't remember, and I can't remember the key sequence to find out. But, it is the most current (for UK), as it got reflashed a couple of weeks ago.

Just had a look and yes, it's x.0.6.
I bought Wayfinder to use with my N80, it seems like a good package but the GPS connection keeps dropping out and it's driving me nuts.
All I can think of is that it's bluetooth dropouts that are causing it. Sometimes I can reconnect it, but more often than not I have to restart the phone. :frown:
Hi all,
Just a word of warning...
www.r66.com says their latest version (7.x) of Route66 is fully compatible with the Nokia N80, so I foolishly ordered a copy with latest UK maps.
Test Results
1. Bluetooth GPs drop outs every 5-15 minutes (without BT headset)
2. First one or 2 words of voice promts missing when using a BT headset
3. Route66 crashes (closes) every time I try to navigate to postcode ML1 5xx
(only does this with the latest 2006 Britain Map, does not crash with 2005 map and ML1 postcodes).
I am awaiting a reply from R66 Customer Support, but if i haven't heard by close of business tomorrow I am contacting my C/Card company to dispute the purchase.
Will keep you all posted.

Parm - have you tried switching your bluetooth connection off and then back on? That's what i do instead of having to restart the phone.... doesn't solve the problem of course :frown:
dez_borders - about Route 66, have you tried to see if your connection stays up when using Navigator instead? This may not necessarily be a Route 66 issue. The other problems you mention are a different matter though...
