Hi there,

After upgrading the firmware on my Nokia N80, ringring.mp3 has disappeared!

Would anyone be able to upload this for me, it would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

- Joe

I dont think I ever had ringring.mp3 on my phone

Yeah, I'm pretty desperate for it as it's the only tone I actually like!

I think it may be Orange specific - as it disappeared after I flashed my firmware, which removed Orange branding - could be wrong, though!

scoopjeff, out of curiosity, what network are you on?

Regards,

- Joe

Im on Orange too! I think you could be correct with that assumption about it being oranges tone. I spoke with Nokia last week and they hadnt a clue what I was on about (As i suppose is the norm!!) however when i spoke to tech guy at orange last week about a totally different subject I mentioned about the tone being missing and he said Hmmmm what firmware do you have on yr phone? :secruity: He give me the *#0000 thing but I just give him the old numbers not the new flash cause i had a feeling he would ask me that!!😉 😉

Yeah, it's similar, but not quite the same.

This is driving me insane!!

😊

Edit: I can remember exactly what it sounds like now - it's kind of distorted, and kinda like it's underwater a bit, with a crackle at the end of each 'ring'!

Ok, if anyone can extract ringring.mp3 from a Nokia N80 on Orange (I think its operator specific) I am seriously considering a PayPal payment to the person

I just reciebed my N80 from orange the other day and it already had the new firmware on but still orange branded so they must have started upgrading them.

Anyway, i have the ringring.mp3 tone, i will try and upload it if i can work out how to get it off the phone.

Just tried to get the file on the computer but cant work out how to do it, a little help please?

Hi there,

The file is located in a hidden part of the phone, under a drive mapping of 'Z:\'

To get to this file you need to install a file browser on the phone which is capable of doing this.

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/software/item/ProfiMail_Symbian.php

ProfiMail comes with a file browser, which can see the Z:\ drive. Once that's installed and you can see the file, just copy it to your memory card or phone memory and transfer onto your PC.

If you get stuck, send me a PM and I can help.

Many thanks,

- Joe

chanac, did you click on the link to open it? or right click and "save as"? at a guess, you don't have Quicktime and your browser is trying to play it through Media player? because it won't play with Media player and as far as I'm aware, will only produce an error like that if you tried to play it. Just save it and transfer straight on to your phone and it should be fine 😊

Jae20, yeah u r rite...done as suggested, work now....many thanks!!!

cheers

The forumfootball link to "ringring" is dead - would anyone mind posting up an alternative link? It's about the only ring tone my Dad (a bit on the deaf side) seems to be able to hear, and de-oranging his phone for him dissappeared it!

(been lurking for a while - sorry my first post is a "can I have" one!)

Edit: Ahhh, ignore me - I've managed to find a working link!
