Be gentle with me, I've had this 9300 for all of 3 days and my head is already swimming with terms and concepts unfamiliar to an old mainframe programmer.
I'm so happy, I was able to get it to talk to my POP3 server, and can pull down all the subject lines. I'm not certain I did it right, though. It doesn't seem to involve the "built in" inbox and outbox I see when I push "messaging". It's an item at the bottom of the screen called "My POP3".
I willing to let that be, since when I pushed "retrieve e-mail", it did just that. But when I delete a message, it just sticks a trash can icon next to it. When I select "Delete Messages Locally", nothing happens. When I got it to actually delete them (I forget exactly how), it actually delete the messages from my server!
How do I delete these messages locally? Is there something in the configuration I have to change to get it to use the "real" inbox? Help!
This is normal.
The Inbox is for SMS, MMS etc.
The My POP3 is effectively another Inbox. When you delete messages they dont actually go away until you update / connect to your mail box again (this connecting is like sending and receiving) - Connect is one of the options in the menu when you have the MyPOP3 highlighted - it basiacally does the same thing as retrieve email. If you Delete Locally that will leave your messages untouched on the server the other delete is Phone and Server.
Ah, but therin lies the problem : I highlight the "My POP3" account, click "Menu", then select "Delete Mail Locally". Whoops! The highlight jumps to "Inbox" where there are no messages, and a dialog box pops up asking me if I want to delete all of the non-existant messages in the empty, missnamed "Inbox", or if I want to select some age filter. Very frustrating!
How do I get the messages deleted locally from the POP3 account without deleting them from the server?

Just checked it as well and it simply doesn't seem possible to remove other emails than the one in the inbox. The only way to do it is delete the account and set it up again.
