Anybody with some feedback using the N80 on Cingular. I heard the new Nokia Shop in Chicago has sold a few, and the N80 is now on backorder there. I got told that it'll be available online at the NokiaUSA site shortly. Nobody knows if it'll ever be available through Cingular - Only rumors.:con?

i don't know, but my n80 has cingular logo on it, its RM-91, one of these days i'l have to go into the city and see if the 3G works ;] and the question your wondering, where'd you get it, ebay, only one i ever saw on ebay.

I just ordered the N80. I'm going to be using it on T-Mobile because they have the cheapest data. Anyone have any info though on the ability to update the firmware in the US since there aren't any nokia service centers??

I'm on T-Mobile also, it works great! I do believe I have EDGE coverage in Manhattan (please correct me if I'm wrong) as my transfer speeds are much faster than my friend's Cingular.

You can flash the phone yourself, or you can wait until the Chicago store decides to do it. The key is to find the proper language pack, I believe V08 contains western English.

By the way my fellow US N80 owners, we can save a TREMENDOUS amount of battery power by setting the phone to gsm only mode. Before doing so, my battery would only last roughly 24 hours (heavy wifi and bluetooth usage). After changing this setting, my phone can go 3-4 days without being charged! Give it a shot!

I want your battery 😊

I'll be using the phone in NY aswell, and yes I believe that T-Mobile supports EDGE data. I'm hoping the phone has the updated firmware already...

Which data plan do you use? I plan on using email, web, sms, and mms the most. I currently have the sidekick data plan which is unlimited everything, so I'm unsure which TMobile data plan would be best with the N80. I use 10-20mb of data a month and send/receive about 300 texts.

How many of you have updated the N80 firmware yourself? I live in the US but I am reluctant to try with mine. I purchased my phone on-line and it came with the old firmware.

It is very simple to do. I even borked mine the battery died whilst flashing! It would not power on at all. Sent the flash down the cable to the dead phone and voila a updated N80 😊

Hope your right........I will give it a try. How long did it take?

I remember reading a thread on battery life a couple of weeks ago, it's interesting how people are getting different battery results with the same phone and firmware!

I have unlimited data for $4.99/month (I locked my contract with this rate a couple of years ago). I use it a lot and have been very happy with the service!

Hi, just wanted to check with you guys if anybody managed to get 3G coverage in Manhattan on an unlocked N80. I got one and no matter what I try I just can't get 3G displayed. Any feedback is more than welcome.

3G in the usa is run on the 1900 band, sadly the nokia n80s 3g band only supports 2200 i believe, unless you have a rare nokia n80 RM-91 prototype, chances are your not getting on cingulars 3g network with the n80. and if you are one of the lucky ones with a RM-91 prototype, make sure you have a new 3G sim card. 😉

cbcharlie is right,

I'm afraid that if you don't have the prototype (1900mhz version) N80 you cannot have 3g service in the United States.

to anyone using Tmobile with the N80:

I'm having issues sending texts.. they won't send out at all. I looked through the settings and everthing seems okay. I have the 400 text plan so it can't be that. I have no clue why it wont send any text messages???
BTW, since my-tmobile.com doesn't recognize the N80, which phone did you put on your account?
