At last, a Psion-like piece of software for our Symbian based phones. This is what should have been built into the operating system. By searching for a text string or numeric string you can now easily find everyone in a certain post code, or having a specific telephone area code, or working at a specific company.

But not free, only a demo version...

I can't get the V3 version to install - I've downloaded it twice and both times my N80 gets through all the dialogues and, having drawn an empty progress bar, comes back with "Update Error!".

Not having installed it before I wonder what it thinks it's updating?

Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your problems.

Until this point, this problem has to reasons, either

- corrupted memory card. Please take out memory card and try installing to internal memory

- Vodaphone branded device

Is this the case for the last two posters? Please state your firmware version as well as if you have a branded device.

Thanks and best regards
Max

Hi,

for those of you having problem, do you have Nokia Mobile Search installed?

If yes, please uninstall this and see if it works after this.

Max

I uninstalled NOKIA's mobi-search and it installed OK.

It works well (if a little naggy!).

Do I get a discount for being a beta tester 😊

Last thing: can you explain what the conflict was? I'd like to reinstall NOKIA's search tool as well.

regards,

Slart.

It seems the problem is that Nokia has named their product name as well as their files the same as our, although our product was released long time before them.

Best would be to tell Nokia about it, so they can change it.

Although I guess they never will 😞

Best regards
Max

Ok, uninstalling Nokia Mobile Search worked for me too.
They clearly won't work together - if you do the Nokia install first, then Sept won't install. If you install Sept first, then the Nokia install completes but Sept stops working.
This is a shame as both are useful and otherwise complement each other - one searches the Internet, one the local file system. Is this an OS limitation - how are developers supposed to ensure their applications don't conflict with others?

Nokia has named their application as well as the files the same as our application, although our application was already out for a long time.

Therefor we now have the conflic, because executables and resource files overwrite each other.

Pease all tell Nokia about it, maybe they will change it hopefully soon.

Regards
Max

PS: I guess they won't change it although they are wrong, so we will have to change it 😡

I have a Vodafone branded Nokia N73 s60 3rd edition phone but whenever I try to install Mobile Search I get the dreaded "Update Error" referred to in previous messages.

I note the suggestion to remove the Nokia Search (which I don't mind doing) but I don't know how to remove it because it is not listed in the "Applications" menu on the phone.

Can anyone help me with this?

I fixed the problem by going into the "Tools", "App. Manager" and then removing the Nokia Mobile Search.

Have now successfully installed your Mobile Search.
