i have a nokia E61. when i bought it i am sure the MAIL button on the right side of the joystick used to take me to the messaging screen but it doesnt do that anymore. has it been disabled by accident while going through the tools and options or is something wrong with my phone? how can i get it to start working again.

The phone occasionally gets jammed - in my experience - similar to a computer trying to process too much information or clean up it's hard drive in the background. I have found this button to do nothing far too often.
Turning off the phone seems to reset things and sort it out I have found (one would beleive the software have been written by Microsoft with this type of solution and behavior).

Would you be using Handy Clock by any chance? There was a bug in Handy Clock (and maybe Handy Alarm too) that caused the email button to stop working. It's been fixed in the latest version AFAIK.
I very much like Handy software but it seems to screw up different things on the phone. No email light, buttons not working, etc. Therefore I am not using any of their software at this time.
I had the same thing happening when surfing with Opera (Micro? Teensy-Weensy?) - the java-version for "regular" phones. What happened was that I browsed along, tried to access the e-mail and the Messaging app froze. After that there was no way, bar Hard Reset (note caps...) to get the thing working. So, out goes Opera. And, to be quite frank - once you get the hang of the viritual mouse-moves and the zoom in/zoom out buttons the built-in browser is actually quite good!

WOOHOO, Thanks for the tip about Mini Opera. My mail button (used heavily, and withdrawns forthcoming without access to it), was non functional, and a restart wouldn't work. I know a Soft restart works but only for part of one day. After reading about the MiniOpera app. I un-installed it, and restartsd the phone. And not only did the mail button now work again, but a mystery app NON- installable nor deletable, was a real app that I could Install.
OK My lesson learned , [FONT="Lucida Console"]Mini-Opera[/FONT] is bad. :secruity:
