I've been trying to create small wav files to use as my ringtone but i can't seem to get them smaller than like 2 megs even for a 10 second clip, what program do i need to make them smaller? like to 11khz instead of 44 i think i have at the moment, please help.

thank you very much, i got silverchair now...yay i didn't realise that the sound recorder with windows recorded with such low quality that it's actually a good thing. thank you again.
using sound recoerder in windows convert it 16000 hz mono 8bit
mine converts to 22.050khz, are you using XP? is their any way of getting it into a smaller format? i'm downloading that program from that link to the thread, do you know if that makes the wav smaller than 22.050?
oh my god, with windows XP you can convert them and record in any format, sweet, any khz at all mon and stereo

yup, i'm doing it on 11khz and in mono, works great, i've got linkin ringtones, and silverchair ringtones, and i'm gonna make message alerts aswell as their shorter, its sweet

but i upload a stereo wav file 8bits and my 7650 can play it no worries.

yes there is no point in putting it to stereo as the quality is the same as mono, but my point being that ppl have said that it "should not" work when in stereo, but it does with mine which is strange.
You should try nokia 9110 wav converter

I use that and the quality isn't that bad when compared to file size..

yes the quality is pretty good for its size, but it's no use to use them as ringtones as they arnt very loud or clear.
its ok to use for a full song to listen on ur 7650 though.
