N80 Internet Edition

Hi.

Had the N80 Internet Edition firmware loaded to test out some SIP functionality;

V 4.0632.0.3
09-08-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (506)

Doesn't seem much different from the V4 firmware, except for the creation of a new stock group called Internet, which includes new Search (previously available), VoIP login (which tries to connect to a SIP profile via WLAN) and Download (variation of Catalogs).

Under Settings, includes a Internet Tel settings (ala E series), but nothing else changed.

The SIP stuff still doesn't work (with the Broadsoft kit I'm trying it with, anyway), but at least it looks promising that its in the firmware, and can confirm that this release at least works on the "stock" N80 hardware.

Dissapointing that the SIP stuff doesnt work yet.

Is this firmware downloadable anywhere? I'd like to give it a try.

Cheers,
EF

By walking next door (Nokia office) and asking for it in order to test SIP functionality.

Fancy testing it against a bunch of asterisk servers?, I have the E60 and the E61 working, would love to be able to support the N80.

Search on software section of this site. Most of that software are free.

Personally I wish people would realise that Skype is a proprietary system that isn't industry standard and is holding back VoIP. Sadly they have better marketing. Skype is anti-competitive.

VoIP does not = Skype
