Why did alarm bells start ringing hard when during instalation i was prompted that this application was not signed/verified.

Anyways I cancelled because i dont have an anti-virus nor can i be bothered wid Carphone Warehouse or Nokia Technicians this week.

Any1 kno whether this is legit

Fact that its posted by some-one with 8 posts

I just recently joined this forum.
I thought maybe I should give some contribution after several helpful replies to my questions. I uploaded this file to rapidshare after personally installed and tested with my own phone. Whether you want to download it, it's up to you, but please dont judge people's credibility by their total num of posts.

There are many applications or software that isn't signed or verified, dont worry...its just like when you install something on your computer and its not certified by microsoft, it doesnt mean that it contains a virus, just means its not yet or will not be certified for whatever reason.

I installed it, looks very nice 😊..but can only access the demo movies, I cant seem to access my movies 😞..must just be a demo version of the software, unless I am missing something

Is a legitimate application. You can install.

Cash,
go to Menu > Browse Files > Menu > Rescan File System

Sorry Jin didnt mean to cause you any offence personally, just that its the internet and you have to be very cynical at times sorry again bout my post coming out very anal considering i've only got 17 posts myself LMAO.

After posting it i did do a post search and relised you were new and were guninely helping people out. You already seem like a welcome addition to the forum.

this is better than smartmovie player! It runs better.

Its alpha and very similar to smartmovie player(i'd say alot of it is the same). It doesnt hitch as much SM however. Performance still slow for fullscreen high quality movies.

I noticed, I uploaded a high res version of ABC's Lost to my phone, and it's unwatchably choppy. I was wondering if a faster memory card would be the solution?

I dont think the memory cards the problem. I have tried all types of file sizes at the moment. Im not sure if its the codec im using to make the divx file or the phone but its still very choppy. Im guessing this is only any good for short trailers and the like rather than us all going and getting our dvd's to put them into divx for our phones.
It could just be that this player is early in progress and there might be a better one out soon (I hope 😊 )

Well been playing around with different video settings then playing it on divxplayer. Seems like our N80 doesn't like high resolutions but goes fine with high bitrates. Examples:
- 176x144 @ 1024 kbps plays fine;
- 412x356 @ 1024 kbps skips;
- 176x144 @ 256 kbps plays fine;
- 412x356 @ 256 kbps skips;

Now is this a problem with the player or the phone HW (processor namely)?

Regards

Hi all....i m new here. Can someone tell me wat DivX player does? Can it play mp4 movies? Thanx.

Cheers jin
but didnt seem to work

Downloaded it last night; looks incredible and I love the fact that you can just transfer AVI files onto your phone without converting to MP4 (which takes FOREVER it seems)

The only (major) problem is the choppiness; it's unusable so far. Every AVI file I transfer to my phone results in the sound being choppy and the video dragging.

Does this mean I have to watch only MP4? Anway I can convert to MP4 faster than with the PC Suite??:con? HELP!!! I need my vids! :frown: :frown:

Well, the phone has a 200MHz processor and no video acceleration, so you can't expect smooth playing of the "desktop" divx avis ( like 1000+ kbit/s data rate, 25/30fps). I guess max 512kbit/s, 15fps is realistic, so probably you can't avoid "downsampling" of the high quality videos...

That's weird. What resolution are your avi files? did you convert them to 412x356 or lower? I converted Jet Li's "fearless" movie to 412x356 @ 256 kbps and it runs perfectly smooth. Even in the the fighting scenes, the audio and video synced. However when I played this movie using Smartmovie, I get a lag.

N90 runs near enough perfect so i expect improvements to N80 in the future hopefully.

It must have VERY similar code to Smartmovie, since it after a while gets black & white, and has the same "DEMO"-sign over the movie. Has anyone else seen this?

Is this player free or not?

Anyhow, the film ran smoother than in smartmovie.

It looks 99% the same as Smartmovie, like as if they only changed the skin..

Even the Demo1.avi and Demo2.avi included..

And i don't notice a performance difference between the both programs.

What do you use to convert?

Ah ok, I converted it using Smartmovie Converter, I get it :redface:

kh0sa, what he said 😊

Geez, this seems to be identical with SmartMovie, but um.... what is that? Oh.... this one is free... 😃
Bye bye, SmartMovie!

EDIT: Ha ha ha - even the help it's the same! Now that's espionage 😃

NAD wrote:Soo... wich program is best to convert films?

User either SUPER or SmartMovie Converter. SUPER is free 😊

I cant get it to find my videos either. 1st i installed it on the memory card and couldnt find the app and so installed it on the phone memory. Buti did notice a divx video folder when installed on the memory card but not with the phone memory...any idea???
