Memory Monitor

I've installed momory monitor yesterday. Does anyone have it installed too? I don't really know how to use it 😮ops: . Any experience? Thanks GODFATHER 😃

I use it to release memory from other applications by choosing CLOSE ALL PROGRAMS. You will find this by pressing Menu-button. 😃

Im interesting in this, where to find the program ?

Can it used for freeing memory under internet sessions to Memory card ?

When I try to use Opera my 9210 wery often write: out of memory.

The main use I had for Memory Monitor when I wrote it was to view the memory usage of threads over time (I was looking at threads that abused memory). However it was also useful for viewing total free memory too from the Global Heap (this is the default view).

So, things that it can do....
- to view the memory usage of any thread over time, select Spy, and then the name of the thread you want to spy on.
- Memory is allocated off the global heap and mapped to a process in chunks. eg: a user may request 580KB of RAM, and 640KB of RAM may be allcated to the thread of which just 580KB is used. This is quite normal, but to free any spare memory on an allocated heap (thats available at the top address range of the heap) use the Compress Heaps functionality. You may find that several to several hundred KB are freed using this.
- to unload all the non-system threads currently running use "Close All Programs". This frees a lot of memory. You can unselect this item too, and it will reload all the programs.
- to kill a thread, select kill 😊

around 😉 the best mem manager is the one that fits very well your needs.

As freeware is switcher
you can try AppManager

i hace instaled the 3 i mentioned and i ofund switcher the best for me to work byt i believe that spy can free up more memory because it shows more programs!but it is very dificult. what is appmanager??you have to pay for it? i dont understadn why to pay for something wheres a free alternative!like pdf+
adobe gives a free program so why you buy pdf+?

Appman is like switcher but has more features 8) . I prefer switcher! Yes,appman is not freeware,so you have to buy it!
Can you tell me which is the adobe free software that you are talking about? Thanks!!! 😃

WWW.adobe.com was ment to be. There you can find a free version of reader. But this does not allow you to prind or create pdf files.

Best things in life aren`t for free, including internet 😉

😉 Well... even though there's some free apps around for memory management i would still go for APPMAN... to me its still the best and is a "MUST" for all advanced user...

APPMAN Main features:

- Windows style task switcher
- Apps list with ability to switch to, close or kill
- Processes and threads list
- Opened files list
- History of documents (like in Psion shell, or Windows Documents in start menu)
- Memory and disks info
- Ability to assign a hot key to an app or a document, so you can launch your
favorite word document or game in a single key press from any place and immediately.
- Compress and defrag memory. You don't need to restart you device to free up some memory now.
- Compress memory in background
- Ability to restart the machine softly
- Fully integrated to system and works as a system process
- etc, etc ..

Now they also have a new version... Added in AppMan v.1.2:

1. Global hotkeys section improved, now you can define hotkeys to special functions. In other words you can perform these functions from anywhere without popping up AppMan:
- Close current application
- Kill current application
- Close all applications
- Restart machine
- Show processes screen
- Show open files screen
- Show recent files screen
- Show disk/Ram screen
- Memory info
- Compact memory
2. Added memory information onto AppMan window caption
3. Dynamic Applications screen update

😉 So now u know why i chosed APPMAN... no free apps can provide the same... AppMan also uses only 50 Kb. The whole application with so many functions (and extremely fast functions comparing to those FREE ones...)

I tryed the demo of appman. It's real good, but I now I'm used to switcher, even if I will think of purchasing appman. 😃

Hi guys,
i just want to ask what is the average of free memory that you have, i am using App Manager, usually i have around 2300 Kb of free memory, when i restart the phone i got about 3000 kb.
my Q is: am i using alot of the ram or not because last night i couldn't play a flash video (which was only 370 kb) because "out of memory" thing.

hint: i am using 45% of the device, and 50% of a 32 Mb MMC.

thanks

When I re-boot I start with 3800 approx. Memory managment progs help your 9210 when u have to open or deal with large files. They are very usefull and even the free-ware alternatives are usefull even though they have less feature! 😉 8)
