N80 and Yahoo mail

Hi there,

I'm hoping you can shed some light on my email problem. 😡. I'm trying to setup my mail client on my N80 (Yahoo.co.uk) I've set it up as suggested by my Supplier (O2) and I can send from the phone fine but can't receive mails from the account that can send.

I get a connecting to mailbox, says updating mailbox and just winks out. No error or anything. could it be due to the amount of mails in my inbox? there's a fair few but they are all read.

Anyone had similar problems? I've managed to get to my hotmail but was via the O2 browser rather than using the mail client so not too keen on that method.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated. 😉

Yahoo, Im not sure. But hotmail, have some restriction on acess... only MS stuff can do the access well. On contrary, Gmail can be accessed for any mail client, with "enable POP" on Gmail Site. See if Yahoo have some kind of that restrictions.

Free web mailboxes such as Hotmail & Yahoo don't like users to access them other than through their websites due to the fact you don't see the advertising then - and that's the only reason they provide free mail in the firstplace. Get yourself a POP3 email address, use one from your network provider if necessary or alternatively access online via your web browser.

Could be a settings problem. I've used Yahoo Mail, via Yahoo Go! and a standard setup in the email settings on the phone and with Profimail. All works fine

Yahoo will work with the N80 (I use it). Which access point are you trying to connect with?

Hi Guy's

Problem solved, turned out there was too much crap in my in box. Deleted and moved it all around into folders so the inbox was empty. And viola it was sorted.

So it will work with the regular N80 client. Hotmail was a different.
