My phone is not locked to vodaphone.. but I still cant upgade it...
I have chnaged the product code.. then PC suite .. comes up with Cant find phone ... so wont do anythign ... the Nemisis thing finds thine phone .. but the PC suite / software upgade wont find the phone...
Hence I'm off to the Nokia service centure to get them to do it!... if they can!!!!

Has anyone yet chanced changing the product code to that of the new N73 Music edition to run a firmware update. It apparantly tweaks it slightly with a better music player amongst other things.

I have updated my Nokia N73 from V3.628.0.0.1 to v 3.638.0.0.1. It was working fine and then i found that i can update by changing product code. Now i dont know what was the original product code and now i have an chinese variant.
How can I make it to my old variant and how can i place the old code.
Its Middle East and Africa Edition. Can some one tell me the Product code for these variants for
N73 Normal Edition and
N73 Music Edition

I successfully changed the product code of my Orange branded N73 to the N73 ME using NSS, and then updated the firmware to the latest ME version via NSU. All worked flawlessly and the phone is now much better 😊
I have also used NSS to regrade my 6680 to the EURO1 generic product code and update that firmware too, so my g/f can now use that.
All in all, I'm a happy bunny !
Well I got solutions
Changed my Product Code to 0539295
Reinstall the update meaning the whole files are downloaded and the phone is updated and now i have English, Arabic and French Languages with Music Edition.
Found my product code under the battery so after updating i Fix it back.

That's because backup and restore didn't work properly in the previous firmware.
😊 The new firmware is good on protecting itself. If any programs are not properly signed, phone will not allow to restore them. You have to reinstall all those by yourself, again. :tongue:

I think I'm thick here - I suffer from a lot of the bugs on my phone (v2.0628.0.0.1 10/7/2006 RM-133), such as slow SMS etc. Downloaded Nemisis, but do I need to actually flash my phone with hardware (that I won't have) to actually update product code from O2 (0539976) to a generic one before I can apply a firmware update using Nokia Software Updater! Yes? So, without the ability or hardware to flash the phone, I'm stuck?

Nemesis will allow you to change the product code of your N73 via the USB cable, no extra hardware required.
You then use NSU to update the firmware.

No, you won't lock it. Just choose the generic product code for your region, use NSS to change it on your phone and then use NSU to update.

Having this problem right now, trying the update to the Internet version, stops at around 80% says connection the phone is lost, I can restart the phone by removing the battery when it restarts I seem to end up with a cross between the music edition & the internet edition, ie. I get the update player which is on all the time but can still use the media key to select various apps and don't get any of the msn messenger stuff, firmware reports itself as the current uptodate.

Everything seems to work okay so far (apart from some missing apps like xpressprint) I can also shutdown the music player by selecting exit in the equaliser settings.

Upgraded my N73 last night to v.3.0638.0.0.1.
I would like to change my phone to the music edition. I've tried connecting my phone using the Nemesis service suite but it does not detect my phone.

UK 3 Network. How do I find out my product code? And on the nemesis website, there are only software versions for n80 and n95, none for the n73. And also, would I be able 2 back up my MMS and GPRS settings without a memory card?
