About three weeks ago I was blocked from posting, getting a message saying that my username (meirionwyllt) did not have the right privilages when I attempted to post a new thread or reply to an existing one. I haven't been able to post since, so I had to re-register as a different user (meirionwyllt2), using a different e-mail address and password. I was able to post no problem before this, and I certainly haven't done anything for my original username to get blocked. I have sent an email to the admin crew but receive nothing in reply.
If any moderators are listening, please tell me why this is, and why I've had to start a new profile. Also, please rectify this problem
Thanks.
I just checked your account and the reason you were not allowed to post is that apparently we never received the email confirmation after your registered.
To fight the spam on this forum, we've tightened up security. That means that now only fully registered members are allowed to post messages in the forum. You become fully registered after clicking the link in the confirmation email that was sent to you after you signed up.
Sometimes you don't receive this email (for example if you made a typo in your email address) and therefore your registration cannot be completed. In this case you can simply register with a new name and the correct email address.
Right now I simply changed your status to registered member, which means that you should be able to post messages with your original account again.

Arjen
Thanks.
Could you also delete the other accounts that I set up trying to get access again, namely meirionwyllt1 and meirionwyll2, but leave the posts that I started under these names.
Thanks again
I have now merged your two new accounts in a your old one. Your post count will be updated accordingly.
Apologies for not responding to your email, I guess I must have missed it.
I think the rule of symbian.com is a little strict......
I don't agree. The last couple of months we've been flooded with spam and these measures are to prevent automatic spammers (spambots) from posting rubbish that nobody wants to see anyway.
There are still lots of ways for real people to post links to the forum. Besides, the restrictions are lifted as soon as you reach 10 posts.
You can call it strict or maybe even lazy, but I'd rather have to copy and paste an interesting link in a user's post into the address bar a couple of times than having to remove 100 spam posts per day.
I agree with Arjen. However any feedback is welcome and we will look at other ways of doing this if people feel this is a serious concern.
I feel its better doing this that say moderating everyone's first 5 posts.

If he was allowed to post in the first place BEFORE his account got stopped, and IF he was a spammer he could have 'spammed'. Therefore making the verification pointless?!?
Shouldn't you just NOT BE ALLOWED to post at all until AAS has received the verification email?
I think your standards for stopping spam are fine. Its a pain, especially on BB's so whatever you do to fight it is good.... 😉
