The forum has been updated to the latest version.
Together with Arjen I'm going to be hopefully improving things / making moderators lives easier. The first anti-spam stuff has already gone in and I'm looking at anti-bot registration measures.
Will also look at ways to tie the site and forum closer together.
For the time being I'm leaving the forum structure unchanged although there are some new devices forums need and some of the older ones will get moved to the archive sub caetgory.
Suggestions etc. welcome.
Thanks Rafe. This will allow for some more sophisticated anti-spam mods. So far everything seems to work fine. I haven't found anything out of the ordinary yet.
The very simple mod that disables posting links if you have fewer than 10 posts already is quite effective (I've noticed a dramatic decrease in spam activity in the last two weeks). In the coming weeks I'll see what we can do to further reduce the spam posts on AAS.
As Rafe said, suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks Arjen (first for making me do something about this and more importantly for all the continuing help - same goes for everyone actually!)
I'll try and keep track of changes I add / make here.
More notes:
With a lot of help from Steve I think I have cracked some of the speed issues with IE. This is working on some of the forums, but I now need to update some header code on other. For example the N91 and Nokia3250 forum should be running at full speed. It is also a bit better in Firefox too.
The skin is now fully updated, though I guess it might be interesting too look at a new skin / look at some point.
Taking a break from forum stuff now. More this afternoon.
Rafe
Glad to see the update.
A quick suggestion/request: Could you add an infraction for "Linking to illegal content"? That way we can ban/warn a user via the new infraction mechanism when they link to pirated software.
😊
