E61 pdf & doc. attachments

I have just purchased an E61 for business use and found that I cannot open pdf or word documents. Being that they are two of the most common file types used in business I m surprised that this is the case.
Can anyone advise as to whether this is truly the case? If so what other possibilities could there be.
I am hoping that it is a case that I am not using it correctly.

There is a free pdf viewer that you can download from the Nokia site and the office applications on your phone should be able to open & edit MS Word documents. In addition there is also QuickOffice (http://www.quickoffice.com/) that offers a free Office viewer or you can upgrade to an editor version.

If you go to Menu -> Catalogs on the E61 then QuickOffice and Adobe Reader are available to download.

I already have adobe reader installed. Problem is with all attachments except for excel which for som reason opens okay.

I have put problem back to MPC where we bought them from but have doubts as to whether they lknow anything about the problem.

Anybody else had problems opening up attachments?

Not sure what program you use for e-mail but I sync mine with work using Intellisync. I had the same problem until I found that under the inbox settings there was a field for what types of files to download. The .doc and .pdf files were not in that field. I added them and saved the settings and it works fine now as long as they are under the file size limits I have set. Not sure if this helps but check under the inbox settings for file types and see if that works.

On a different vein go to mobipocket.com and download the ebook reader. You can import .pdf files and read them on one page thus saving all the scrolling back and forward.

Its superb

Love the phone.

But when using this with blackberry it seems to NOT load up xls, pdf, jpegs.
tech support has no answer.

Any help would be appreciated

I don't know what you have already tried, but lets see if we can localise the problem:

1: Can you open the apps normally (not with a file or anything, just go into the office folder and open them up)?

2: If yes, can you create a new file?

3: Where are you trying to get these .doc etc files from? online? transferred over from your blackberry? from a pc?

4: if possible have you tried rolling the files back to an older release of office .doc etc...

Come back with some answers to these and i'll fire another round at you 😊

I have just downloaded mobipocket reader on my E61. I downloaded a pdf file to my memory card but I could not find the pdf file going through the reader. Is there something you have to do to load files into Mobipocket from the memory card?
