Hi Guys,

Can anyone here please confirm that NSU does actually work on Vista ? I've had trouble with NSU on XP & Vista now, but I've read that it doesn't actually work on Vista ?

Regards,
OGLES

Damn.. So is there no workaround's ? Have Nokia not mentioned about any support for Vista yet ?

Hi Ogles,

While the PC Suite will work on Vista NSU won't and apparently Nokia support on Vista is due in Q2 but who knows if this will the start or end of Q2.

Marc

I know this is an old thread, but this is related to the new version of NSU, and there seems to be a problem with the installation of NSU with some versions of Vista. Im having trouble getting NSU to run in Vista Business 32Bit.

Anyone has a 100% answer how to get it working.?

I have tried everything from uninstalling, and reinstalling, rebooting, turning firewall off, turning AUC off in Vista, the lot. I had no problems with the previous version of NSU, and this new version was FORCED to update which has made me so mad as I know about issues.

Anyone help.?

Hello,

If you have problems with starting NSU on Vista, here is one solution:

In my case a running service did the trouble. I've found it while i was shutting down network based services one-by-one.

Start task manager(ctrl+shif+esc) and shut down network related services one-by-one starting with Internet Connection Sharing service. In my case this was the trouble maker.

Should work...

Cheers,

That's it ... that's totally the reason it didn't work for me ... Internet Connection Sharing

BUT ... you cannot stop the service in task manager if you enabled it from the regular connection preferences window ...

You will need to go to your network connections ...

And then, from the right click menu on each connection, select the advanced tab, and then look for the internet connection sharing section and uncheck it

Since Vista may still have some other issues, before restarting Nokia Software Updater ... just to be sure ... right click the desktop icon / shortcut ...

... select properties ... and then the compatability tab ...

Now check Run this program in compatability mode for Windows XP (service pack 2) ....

And then apply and then open the Nokia Software Updater ...

You should have a straight through solution !!!

Yes, you can switch off internet connection sharing completely. But what if someone raly wants to share her iternet connection.

You do not use NSU every day, so for me is much easier to just shut down the service for the time I use NSU and then start again. It's much faster.

Cheers,
