Hi guys! Could someone please help with apeculiar question: My P990i displays the chinese alphabet when attempting to type or write - Everything else is in UK/english...How can I get the alphabet to change?

Do you mean the virtual keyboard layout?
If so, from the main menu,
- Tools
- Control panel
- Device
- Text input
- Virtual keyboard
- Setup
- Tap on the drop down arrow and select English
- Tap Done
- Tap Save

Not sure why you'd get that. What languages are installed? (- Tools - Control panel - Other - Select language)
At a guess it might be that you need to install/reinstall UK or US English.

I was having the EXACT same problems and was regretting my purchase. That is, until i updated the firmware just yesterday. When the phone botted up again i had the option to select (UK/US english), all is good now and the phone is super snappy! :icon14:
I found out how to fix the problem. you need to open the virtual key board and hit the icon on the bottom left side of the virtual keyboard that says "abc".
that took care of my problem
